How many houra night
Do you use your xpap machine?
I find it a little easier to fall asleep on couch and then hook up machine and crawl in to bed versus trying to fall asleep with it on.
How about everyone else?

Well, I may not count, since I am new and very interested to make this therapy work for me. I average 7 hours for my first two nights. I start with the mask on watching TV with the lights off, then when I catch myself dozing off, I turn the tv off and fall to sleep. My equipment is very quiet except for my snorkel right at my nose bridge. I use the Mirage Swift II nasal pillow interface. I did wake up twice the first night to the sound of the air going through the tube that follows my headgear to the top of my head, but not so much last night. Overall, I'm pleased that xPAP is not more uncomfortable... initialy anyway.
Oh, loosening headgear for second night helped too. Tight headgear lead to a sore nosebridge the first morning.

Thank You,

I have used my machine every night for at least 8 hours -- sometimes more. When I take a nap (infrequently now) I use it. I am one of the lucky ones that doesn't take my mask off or have the urge to.
Keep up the good work Free and Dave.

I use my machine all night, put on my mask, turn the machine on and switch off the bedroom light. I've been using my xPAP for about 18 months--during the first weeks, the adjustment was tough. Now, it just seem natural, the mask just feels like an extension of my pillow. Oh yes, during those initial weeks I'd remove my mask during the night, didn't even remember doing it, was just a reflex. Again, after getting used to the treatment, that never happens now.
Hang in there, and good luck!

same here: after the first few weeks i stopped taking it off, and now i sleep every night with it on, usually for 8 to 9 hours, and yes, i wear mine for naps, too, except on very rare occasion when i conk out in front of the t.v.;
falling asleep with it on has never really been an issue, either, but i've always said i could fall asleep on a clothesline at high noon

I put the mask on and read for a while. When I am tired I put the book away, re-arrange the pillows (bed pillows, that is) turn off the light and fall asleep.
I have managed to convince myself that the PurSleep oils lull me to sleep so sleeping without the mask just doesn't happen for me anymore.

I've uaed mine every night since I got it. Most of the time I also average between 8 and 9 hours a night. I had only one night cut short by a cold. I never had issues with taking it off. My bedtime routine usualy has me brush my teeth, take my meds, fill up the humidifier tank, do a bit of reading, etc. and then shutting off the lights and putting on my mask as I get settled in to bed. I usually got to sleep pretty soon after. Sometimes I listen to the radio or my iPod while i fall asleep, but always remember to turn it off just before nodding off.

I've been on the hose since June of this year. By the second morning after sleeping with my CPAP connection, my life began to change for the better. After about a month of difficult adjustments, it became second nature to just strap on the mask, turn on the machine, and fall asleep. I love my machine.
All of my adult life, I'd been an early riser, about 4:30-5:00 am most mornings. . And that's what I wanted to do. I was a great housewife for the years I stayed home. I even felt a little righteous around my friends who slept late. It never dawned on me that my frequent little daytime naps were a sign of trouble. I didn't know how necessary those little naps were until I went back to teaching and fell asleep several times each day. The kids were always waking me up. These days, my poor husband has to nearly shove me out of the bed to get me going. I don't want to get up. For the first time in my life, I love my bed. My energy level has increased wonderfully, and the days are happy and productive.
I've had and am still having a terrible time with a sinus infection. My sleep doc and I are trying to iron out the problems, but still, it's all been worth all the problems and infection because my overall quality of life is so much better. I sleep about 8 hours a night.

Every sleeping moment, including naps (which I rarely need.)
I generally sleep 6 - 7 hours, sometimes 5 or 5 1/2. If I have many "short" nights, an occasional 8 or 9 hour night will happen. Catching up on zzzz's then, I suppose.

Regular sleep or naps, always always, use the machine. If I dont I'm a snoring snorten apnea boy. (50 per hour) Don't even notice the mask during brief wakeups in the night. To me putting on the head harness is like a very warm comforting sleep hat that signals me it's slumber time so I fall asleep within 10-13 minutes. Whenever I wake up I experience a giddy sort of energy thing and am ready to just jump out of bed and go...
I've been telling my freinds if they aren't feeling that energetic in the morning they need a c-pap too. Maybe alot of folks could just benefit from the great big flow of oxygen when they sleep.

all these fantastic positive experiences...I wish! I guess I have to just hang in there. I ALWAYS wake up after 2-3hrs, feel uncomfortable - rip off the mask and then when I awake later have trouble getting to sleep with the mask on as it's 'alien' , makes me feel as if the air is too warm, not 'fresh', despite only using passover humidifier with not warming at all. I wish I could solve this 'cos I know all other sleep involves no rest (for the wicked as well as me)

I have been on the hose for 9 days. For the past week I have used it for at least 6 hours per night if not more. A few times I have woken up to a wet nose and/or wet mask which feels icky,so I have taken mask off and hung out in bed or even fallen back a sleep for up to an hour more. MY humidifier is set to lowest setting, I clean mask daily, hose twice a week, etc.
I do love the 8 or 9 hours sessions as for the last 20 years I never slept more than 4 hours in an night unless drug or alcohol induced.
I am so loving the xpap therapy thus far. I swear the blackness around my eyes is starting to lighten up a little as well.

On the Respironics BiPap Auto I averaged about 7-9 hours a night on most nights.
On the Respironics BiPap Auto SV unit I have average around 10 hours sleep a night unless I set the alarm. Tonight is an exception, I hurt my back today
and I am trying to cut back on the pain meds. I usually fall asleep with 3-5 minutes. I love this machine, I got it dialed in and it is a life-saver.
Good luck with your struggles...it will be second nature before you know it. BTW, my wife uses a BiPap Auto also, she only sleeps about 6 - 7 hours a night.
I tell her those people with a clear conscience can fall asleep quickly and stay asleep. I may have to hire a food taster if I am not careful.
