3 Month Update

Post by josh » Tue Nov 20, 2007 8:45 pm

Just wanted to tell everyone that I am doing fine...still CPAP free! I am going in for a sleep study in 2 weeks, it may not reveal anything conclusive. I still can't feel my bottom lip, however I think the feeling is trying to come back.

I have new xrays that show the 34 screws and 5 metal plates in my face...looks pretty cool. How am I feeling? Not as tired as I used to be I think. I stayed up Saturday night till 4am and got six hours of sleep, took a 1 hr nap on Sunday and was able to stay up sunday night till 10:30 wide awake. I hope that means something.

Would I do it again? You bet. In a heartbeat. I look back now (3 months ago), and the pain is all relative. It doesn't hurt at ALL now. Just wish I could open up my mouth wide enough to eat a burger without making a mess. Some day...

Now I just wish I wasn't so busy between work/school/family/new puppy. But at least I don't feel like I am falling asleep at the wheel anymore... .

If you are thinking about getting your face rearranged for sleep apnea treatment, I recommend finding a REALLY good doctor that will be devoted to your care and be there for you every step of the way. My doc was and still is great...I have no scars! And be patient, as hard as that might be, give it time. Don't rush the doc.

Gotta go to bed...I do have a cold right now which is making me tired...go figure. Happy T-Day.

Thanks for the update Josh. I'm glad to hear that you are doing so well. I hope the sleep study shows that all is well. Hey...can you find a way to post that x-ray?

Brenda

Josh,
So glad to hear you sounding so upbeat and for the difference your surgery has made in your day-to-day quality of life. Please do keep us updated, and let us know how the sleep study turns out. I too would be interested in seeing the pictures.
Kathy
