Pressure Settings for Bi-PAP Auto M

Post by BrianT » Mon Nov 12, 2007 7:36 pm

Hello,
I have been using a Respironics Bi-PAP Auto for only about a month with the pressure settings (locked by the RT) at 13/9 as per the sleep labs prescription. My AHI results on the best nights are around 2.0 and the worst nights are around 6.5. I have been using a Liberty mask.
I am just curious if it would be useful to use the Auto feature of my Respironics unit to see if these prescribed settings are really optimal?
Assuming of course that I could unlock the software on my unit.
Am I trying to mess with something that's best left alone, or might this be beneficial to try?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Brian

Brian, I sent you a PM on this, but frankly, I don't understand why they would sell you an auto machine if they only want you on straight BiPAP.

Having only been on it three months myself, I don't feel that my advice on whether or not to switch, or to which pressure would necessarily be worthwhile. I have learned (from this forum) that excessively high pressure could possibly trigger central apneas.
