Finding card reader information

Post by linda3777 » Wed Nov 07, 2007 11:51 pm

I recently got the Remstar Plus M Series CPap (the c-flex is disabled) and it comes with a Smart Card. I asked my therapist how I could read the card myself and she's being very hesitant for me to read my own results, saying she will come once a week and take the card and give me a print out.

Why are they so unwilling to allow us to monitor our sleep apnea results? She said I'd need a card reader and software and she can't provide that to me, even if I paid for it out of pocket. Does anyone know how I can find these things? I'd like to know what my numbers are along with how I feel in the mornings and I don't think a once a week print out from here will help. I'd like to control this disease, instead of being passive and at the mercy of the therapist.

I read all of your posts all the time and I'm learning far more from you guys than any brochure or doctor. I'd like to come here daily and have my numbers explained to me until I could figure them out myself.

if you have a plus you are wasting your money to get a card reader and software - all you get in hours the machine is used each night

Maybe your RT doens't even know what its about - the Plus only gives compliance data - how many hours you've slept with the machine.

For reespironics, you need a Pro on the M series (Pro 2 on the older series) to get breathing data.

By default, data is erased by the hardware once the card is read -- and the RT may be afraid of loosing the data her boss needs in order to prove to the insurance that you use the machine. There's a simple way of changing that default.

For monitoring your own therapy you have to buy:
A fully data capable machine
The means to move the data from the machine to your computer
The software to read the data.
