Anyone use their leak alarm?

Post by Country4ever » Mon Nov 05, 2007 2:35 pm

Anyone use their leak alarm? Seems like it might cause more disruption than the leak. What do you think? What might an alarm sound like? A tornado siren??

I do use it and I find it quite usefull... it activates when you have a big leak and the S8 cannot compensate it.

give it a try

lol, mine doesn't sound like a siren...that would definitely be disruptive...it's a beep

unfortunately, my disconnect alarm doesn't seem to work with the aura, but with the breeze or the comfortlite 2 it does...so i have it activated but it doesn't matter

At what leak rate does a Respironics machine sound the alarm?

rooster, my machine is set to "patient disconnect alert" which goes off after around 45 seconds if the mask is removed, except, like i said, when it comes to the aura

I use my alarm now.

I used to have my machine set on Autostart. I thought it was pretty cool that I could put on my mask, and the machine would start. Pull it off, and the machine would stop.

But, if I pull off my mask in the night (which for some strange reason I do from time to time), the machine would shut off, and I would sleep an hour or so until I realized I wasn't wearing my mask.

So I set up the leak alarm. Now, if I pull it off I hear a sound similar to my alarm clock. I pull the mask on and go right back to sleep.

The same if I have a leak.

So, for me, the leak alarm is actually more beneficial.

So does the alarm usually shut off automatically when you stop the leak? I was assuming we would have to shut it off.

it is a "toggle" on most machines, turn off the stupid "AutoOff" feature and the alarm sounds when you remove the mask.

I think having the machine beep a few times is much better than laying there rebreathing your own CO2.

On the Remstars the machine will sound the alarm when the leak exceeds 75L/m or what is considered a Large Leak. I think the S8 is even lower.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Yep! Shuts off all by itself once the leak's fixed.
