Problem with Encore ...

Post by dand » Sun Oct 28, 2007 6:57 am

I've been using CPAP a little more than a month now. (Really using it, I mean. I went through a couple of machines and a couple of previous masks without success. So, now I'm more or less sleeping through the night all hosed up.) I purchased Encore Viewer when if first came out, and it has been exceedingly useful. However, night before last, I started the blower and forgot the card wasn't inserted in the CPAP. So, after a few minutes, I turned the blower off, inserted the card, and went to sleep. Yesterday morning, when I read the card with Encore, the Daily Details graph for the previous night didn't show up. I thought it would fix itself last night. But it didn't. So now Encore won't produce Daily Details graphs from the prevous two nights. However, on page two of the Encore readout, called Patterns of Use, I notice the last two nights are there. It shows little adjacent green rectangles representing intervals when the machine was in use. However, unlike all the preceeding nights, the last two nights' "rectangles" do not have time stamps on them. But, the next page called Sleep Therapy Long Term Trends is normal. It shows the last two nights and looks to be correct.

Can anyone suggest what I can do to get this thing working right again? Please note, I don't have Encore Pro, only Encore Viewer. Pro would probably give me more options.

Thanks!

Hi,

You may be running into the infamous data gap problem. Some of us have had that happen a number of times - we'll suddenly miss a day or two of detailed data even though the compliance data is there. It could be a firmware problem.

I'd give it another night or two to see if the data reappears. It may not have anything to do with the card not in and then inserted.....

I have not use Encore Viewer before, I believe it is the "missing days" the forum members talking about. You may want to try erasing the smart card. Go to this website

http://www.mycpap.org/

and download smartcard utility.

Just to be safe, backup the smart card data using smart card utility software, before erasing the card.

Thanks for the replies!

GreenIce, I downloaded that utility from mycpap.org. I backed up my smartcard. Then I looked at the backup file. It's a .bin file with only 32K. Is that all there is? I would have thought a backup of over a month of data would require more than 32K. Anyway, I just wanted to check before formatting the card. I'll PM you also with this...

Thanks, again.

I suspect the backup didn't take for some reason. But I don't know for sure because I don't have the viewer. I do agree 32k doesn't sound like much. Try it again and try to import or whatever on another machine BEFORE you erase.
Good Luck,

I seem to recall getting about a 32K file from that. The reason it's so small is that it's a binary format and there's loads of data in them thar bits!

Mindy, you were right, all the data was in the 32K backup file. Last night, after confirming this, I put the newly formatted card in the CPAP. I'm happy to report that this morning Encore Viewer created all of the graphs and tables it is supposed to. But last night's data is the only data on the card now. If I ever need the previous data, I can restore it to the card with the smartcard utility. Anyway, this appears to be one way to correct the "missing daily details" bug.

Thanks to all who replied!

Dand,

Glad to hear it's resolved!

Happy data monitoring
