Survey on OSA & treatment options

Post by airways_medical » Mon Oct 22, 2007 3:34 pm

Hi. My collaborators and I are considering launching a company based on an implantable device that treats moderate – severe OSA. If you could kindly take a minute to fill out this survey, it would greatly help us in understanding your needs, and improving our product. Thank you for your time.

1. On a scale of 1-10, how much does OSA affect your life if untreated?
(1 : as much as a skin graze 5 : as much as a mild fever 10 : as much as parkinson’s disease)

2. How happy are you with your current treatment?

3. What improvements in treatment would be important to you?

4. Would you be willing to have outpatient surgery that involved an
implantable device, similar to a pacemaker, if it significantly improved your OSA condition?

5. Would you be willing to participate in a clinical trial involving a device
similar to the one mentioned above?

6. Any general comments?

Sure I'll go...

1. On a scale of 1-10, how much does OSA affect your life if untreated? 10

2. 2. How happy are you with your current treatment? 5

3. What improvements in treatment would be important to you?
Finding my perfect mask, sleeping through the night with the mask on the whole time!

4.Would you be willing to have outpatient surgery that involved an implantable device, similar to a pacemaker, if it significantly improved your OSA condition?
Only if it had a proven track record and an extremely high success rate.

5. Would you be willing to participate in a clinical trial involving a device
similar to the one mentioned above?
Nope- unless it were too get significantly worse and I was unable to get any relief from xpap.

6. Comments
I would hope it doesn't work like a pacemaker.

4. Would you be willing to have outpatient surgery that involved an

How much does OSA affect my life prior to treatment with an apap?

Would I have surgery to correct it?
NO WAY unless there was a 100% cure rate with minimal risk.
