Being grumpy...

Post by Organplayer » Wed Oct 17, 2007 6:39 am

My wife asked me when I was going to stop tracking my numbers for my cpap.
I was so stunned I was left speechless. Apparently I am being obsessive.

Am I? I have started seeing trends and learning, but am I being OC?

Kevin

Kevin,

I do the same thing. I know I'm obsessing.

Here I envision an intervention team comprised of family members, local religious leaders and police trying to pry the smart card reader out of my twitching fingers saying things like "Okay -- nice and slow, buddy -- put down the smart card." And there I sit in a shadowed corner - cheeks, teeth and widened eyes highlighted only by the screen of my laptop...

Part of it may be a gadget geek thing. Heck, it's not hurting anyone, and if it's your security blanket for now, why worry?

I imagine somewhere down the stages of CPAP we tend to let go of that. Meanwhile, the ability to view the numbers seems like an excellent way to take control of health.

Thanks Dreamdiver for the chuckle, the stages link and confession.
Guess I am obsessing, but I have reached the mental zest stage.

On with the number tracking.

Kevin

Wow! I wondered what an intervention at Wulfman's house would look like... Thanks for the visual DreamDiver!

Just teasing you, Den!

Is that POSSIBLE???

Depending on your relationship with her.....my response is something similar to what "track" suggested......only more like...."Get over it."
At some point, the intensity MAY subside a bit.
I'm still "watching" my numbers after 2 1/2 years, and am still amazed by certain trends that I see (numbers keep getting lower), but I don't spend a lot of time looking at them anymore. It's just part of my morning routine while I'm waiting for my first cup of coffee.

And, then there's the time we spend on the forum......

BRING IT ON, WULFMAN!

Hey, and here's my big embarrassing confession... I STILL HAVEN'T HOOKED UP MY CARD READER AND INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE!

I'm so lame....

Hey, it's been really busy at work and I've been soooo tired at home...

Maybe this weekend....

Cheers,
Babs

Then YOUR OCD time is coming.
If you're tired, your therapy needs tweaking.....

Take care,

Yes, then there is that spare time spent here on "FacePAP"...
I truly am enjoying being here.

Hey, we want the optimal treatment with optimal numbers for optimal health. Hmm, is that obssessing or a form of self preservation? lol

Hey Den, that DID occur to me, however, I'm too sleepy to deal with it today.

The reality is I'm hoping the Magic Encore Fairy will come visit and do my installation for me.

I'm unclear on what part of my anatomy to leave under my pillow to induce the Fairy to pay me a visit. Care to speculate?

LOL,
Babs

Nap in the sack

Post by Nap in the sack » Wed Oct 17, 2007 3:01 pm

I track my numbers from the screen every morning and write them down in a notebook. My sleep doc was the one who rebuked me for being obsessive, and said he is more worried about my mood and attitude than my apnea. So I don't tell him about it... but I am sure that watching the leak rate is worth doing, and although I cannot make sense of when my pressure climbs up to 11.8 and when it is back down to 7, I am sure there is some meaning to it.
