Apria almost impressed me... then...

Post by jqp » Sun Sep 23, 2007 8:12 am

So I read on here the other day how Apria had sent someone a follow up letter. I thought maybe they were getting their act together.

While at the hospital the other day, someone from Apria left me a voicemail (the first time they have EVER called me. EVER.)

She said she'd like me to call back when I get a minute - they have some questions for me.

I think, wow, they're finally going to ask if I ever used the machine.

So I called them back.

They said they had an order from my doctor for an upgraded CPAP machine that they'd like to schedule a time for me to come in for.

"Uhhh... you mean that CPAP machine I picked up over 2 weeks ago because I didn't want to wait weeks for you to call me?" I calmly said.

"Oh, ok. We saw the paperwork here and didn't know what machine you had. We'll update your file."

No questions about if it was working, did I need anything, nothing.

I couldn't help but just sit and laugh. That place is such a joke. If I hadn't come across this board, I'd still be waiting for my machine....

Thanks,

JQP

Apria has to be one of the most mismanaged and undertrained company that I have ever come in contact with.
I just want to go back to sleep!

I think there are a couple of branches of Apria that actually provide service. They mistakenly hire competent people occasionally. Unfortunately, they haven't done that at their Milford, CT branch. I did manage to order a new mask and white filters and received those a few days later. Unfortunately, the brown foam filter and hose that i ordered at the same time (8/16/07) have not yet arrived.

My insurance is CIGNA and they have cut a deal with Apria so that they are the only in-network place I can go. CIGNA gave me a list of out-of-network places but none of them would accept my order because they refuse to deal with CIGNA.

If we all buy some of their stock, perhaps we can do a hostile take over the company. Start by firing the incompetents. That would be fun!!!!!!

(I know nothing about how these things actually work, but the idea of a hostile takeover just struck my fancy, since most of us on this board do feel hostile about them ).

That would mean alot of hiring - but I like the way you think.

I traded a CPAP for an APAP with (thru) Apria - a week later when I went to clean the filter; found NO Filter at all. I knew I should have kept the filters from the one I turned in - but just thought that would not be the right thing to do. Now I know better.

Apria is what you get when you hire the lowest bidder!

Always brings to mind:

Schirra coined a famous line when asked about his thoughts as the clock ticked down to zero before his Mercury flight: "He said, 'Just think of these millions of parts put together by the lowest bidder!' Everybody’s used that line since; John Glenn used it, I think they use it on the shuttle today — but it's still a good line!"

And everyone knows that the space flights have all gone smoothly, well, except for those 3 times that we killed everyone in the craft.

(I am counting the original apollo mishap as well as the 2 shuttles)
