That idiot Dr. Gott

I was reading some of his moronic publishings and ran across something that gave me a laugh.
Snoring may also be associated with sleep apnea. During deep sleep, a patient stops breathing; this is treatable using a special face mask and supplemental oxygen.http://eagleherald.com/gott0602.asp

he may suffer from sleep apnea, which, once diagnosed in a sleep laboratory, can be treated with a variety of methods, including the practice of inhaling supplemental oxygen under pressure.http://www.amarillo.com/stories/072304/fea_gott.shtml
Dear Dr. Gott: Recently, I read your column about the man who stated that he has sleep apnea. I can understand this gentleman’s frustration with the CPAP mask. It is a bit noisy and cumbersome.

I cannot understand your reply to his letter. Taping one’s mouth shut might be an option for a person who snores. I don’t think that it can be considered an option for a person with sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. These episodes, called apneas (literally “without breath”), last long enough so one or more breaths are missed, and occur repeatedly throughout sleep. I understand that sleep apnea can be mild or severe. I still don’t think that taping one’s mouth closed would be an option for someone even if he/she has very mild sleep apnea.

Dear Reader: I apologize for suggesting mouth-taping for patients with sleep apnea. This practice could significantly worsen the risks of sleep apnea, as many readers brought to my attention.

I should add that the gentleman who wrote did not state he had sleep apnea, only snoring. Because he was prescribed a CPAP, I assumed his snoring was due to sleep apnea and therefore gave the Band-Aid therapy a chance.

DEAR DR. GOTT: Our problem is a little too embarrassing to talk about. After 30-plus years of marriage and good sex, we can no longer have intercourse. My husband's penis is bent up when he has an erection. A severe bend, not just a slant. It is almost "L" shaped. It's been 1 1/2 years and no change. Once he asked his doctor and was told it should eventually straighten out. Can you give us any hope of a normal sex life again? We are in our 50s, and there was no injury that we know of that could have caused this.http://eagleherald.com/gott0602.asp

Dear Embarrassed:

Perhaps your husband hooked his CPAP machine up and applied pressure in the wrong location. A vacuum cleaner should quickly remedy the problem, and things will be normal once again.

Dr. Gott

I'm sorry Rooster (well not really), but your combination of quotes just made my brain go in the wrong direction.

rooster, "idiot" doesn't begin to describe this guy. Pressurized oxygen? Taping your mouth shut as a snoring remedy for someone with apnea??

Well, at least he's not opposed to mouth taping . Now, if he could just add the concept of a cpap machine and nasal mask, we'd be all set.

Very graphic example of how well medical professionals understand this condition and what to do about it. This guy has done some serious damage to all those readers of his. Maybe he's not a real doctor, but just plays one in the media .

Sheeez!

That's good J.A., lmao. I knew there was a good punch line waiting to happen but I was too tired last night to entertain it. .

A lot of girls are impressed by boys who "letter" in a high school sport, but it sounds like Embarrassed did not want her husband to "letter" in sex.
