Woke up out of breathe, ripped my mask off

Post by Sammy_J » Fri Aug 31, 2007 12:24 am

The other night I had a real scary experience. I was awoken completely out of breath and I ripped my mask off. I forget to insert my card in my Respironics machine so I couldnt see what had happened but it was very freaky and scary as it never happened before. I suspect I may have had a central or mixed apnea.

Or.....(if you're not taping your mouth shut, while using a nasal mask).....your mouth probably fell open and you were having obstructive apneas.

How long have you had your equipment?
Are you using C-FLEX? If so, have you tried turning it off?

Buy a new hat, drink a good wine, treat yourself, and someone you love, to a new bauble, live while you are alive... you never know when the mid-town bus is going to have your name written across its front bumper!

I have had my APAP for over a year and a half. I havent had that event repeat itself but I was using the F&P mask and I find that mask's venting is not that great. Perhaps I had excess CO2 build up. I had my CFLEX at 2 at the time. I put it back to 3.

BTW, I switched to using my alternate mask, the Mirage Activa.
