Terrible night last night. What am I doing wrong?

Post by vdol52 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 4:07 pm

Last night was the worst lately.
I downloaded my stats and here's what I had for the night.

90% AUTO CPAP 12.7
AVERAGE AUTO CPAP 9
AHI 5.1
LARGE LEAK 0
AVERAGE LEAK 19.64
Is this still too high. I am not aware of leaks and am careful when I remove my mask to turn the machine off first and vice verse when I put the mask back on I turn the machine on afterwards so as not to get false leak readings.

My setting range from 8-14.

I was told to raise the 8 to 9 and lower the 14 to 13.

The problem is that when I look at the graph, in the early morning is when I'm struggling for air. The graph tops out and looks like it wants to go higher than 14 for quite a while. So it seems like I should raise the higher and let it go as high as it needs to. I don't know if I'm sleeing on my back when this happens or what because I sleep alone.

Could someone please tell me how to get the data up on this forum so you can see what I'm talking about.I know how to save the data as html, but don't see a way of getting it from my desktop to this site.

Tonight I'm going to wear a backpack that is a great idea I got from someone else on the forum. I'm also going to use rooster's "mouth taping" technique.

I'm so sleep deprived most of the time I cannot even function.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Victoria

Are you saying that if I tape the mouth that I should not use the humidifier at all? I guess I missed that part.

Thx Victoria

I think your post got hijacked a bit by that guy who was responding to someone else's answer and the humid. bit was incidental. Try taping and see if it works, then you could consider a full face (not 'total') mask, but still use the humid. if you want, or not - they're not related.

I have a vision that we will figure out an easy way to ensure that children develop wide, deep, healthy and attractive jaws and then obstructive sleep apnea becomes an obscure bit of history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycw4uaX ... re=related

Well I'm gonn give her a try tonight. If the tape works that will be the least amount of money I've spent on a "medical device"

If the backpack works maybe i'll do a line of soft packpacks for hoseheads.

I did use a UMFF mask when I first started out, but I hasd so many leak problems that gave it up. I really tried everyway to use it. In the early morning hours it would just about blow off my face. I felt like the space shuttle getting ready for liftoff.

Thanks Victoria

I let you know tomorrow how there two things work.
