Looking Clinician Manual for M Series Auto CPAP with A-Flex

Post by tarainfo » Tue Aug 21, 2007 4:24 pm

I am getting the M Series Auto CPAP with A-Flex tomorrow
I have been loosely diagnosed (with at home tester) as low to moderate sleep apnea
and prescribed auto cpap 4-12

Although I will later check my settings with clinician
but do like to drive my own car
thus looking for manual to understand and define setup for my cpap

Can anyone help me

Thnks

Although the manul is not listed here, it seems all 'M's have the same instructions for getting into the menu;

What kind of "at home test" did you use? Did you work with a sleep doc or a GP? I have relatives who need testing, but may not have insurance coverage. So I'm looking for this kind of info. Thanks.

why do you need a clinical manual?

It is so easy to program a cave man could do it.

Respironics M Series Auto with C-flex/A-Flex:

1. Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the power on the back, wait 2 beeps, release buttons.
2. Press the + key. <- -> buttons move to next field, -/+ keys decrement/increment
3. Check the following field(s):

-Therapy Mode=AFLEX (CFLEX/AFLEX)

-Auto:Max=12 (default=20.0cm)

-Auto:Min=6.0 (default=4.0cm)

-CFlex/AFLEX Setting=2 (options are off, 1, 2 or 3)

-AutoRamp Time=30 (options are 05 to 45 min)

-AutoRamp Pressure=6.0cm (4cm->AutoMin)

-Mask Alert Feature=ON (On/Off)

-Auto Off Feature=Off (On/off)

-Split Night Time = Off (off, 120, 180, 240)

-Show AHI/Leak Feature=ON (On/Off)

Press On/Off button to exit.

Note: can almost guarantee you won't be able to use the machine at starting 4cm pressure, you will probably need it at least at 6.0cm probably even higher. That is okay your doctor wrote the script for 4-12 cm, but you will probably find you need it 6.0 to 12 cm as shown above.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

4 is low for aflex

Post by packer » Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:34 pm

I moved my bottom number up to 8.5

it seemed to me I had trouble getting enough air down by 5-
kind of like the aflex helps you breath in but at low number there isnt enough air-- dont know if that makes sense

just for what its worth- I am no doc-- just an aflex user packer

Sleep study

It was a small clinical service with one respirologist
who supplied me with a Stardust® Sleep Recorder
by respironics
Which connects to your nose, oxymeter on your finger and chestband
for chest expansion
After 2 nights sleep with this she was able to justify enough data that
a ent doctor gave me the prescription
Now she sold machines but after some research as I am footing the bill
I convinced her to act a a paid consultant on a per hour fee and let me buy the machine on my own

if its a simple as this
this caveman will get it
I just saw that there were many options on the menu and several were initials with no explanation
But your explanations seem clear
