I have found that when using the nasal pillows with the Respironics ComfortLite 2, the air flow is extremely restrictive (I have tried both medium and large). Compared to the nasal direct seals, which do not have this problem at all, i.e. no detectable resistance (size 4). Has anyone else noticed this or can anyone explain why?

Are you comparing Comfortlite 2 with a nasalaire device?
Remember that those nasalaires have no turbulance in the air flow (that's what they're known for) so the aire comes in smooth. The pillows and comfortlites restrict at the tip where it is tapered and form a nozzle. The nozzle will spray the air hard (just like constricting your garden hose at home) when you want to power wash something. In essence, you are power washing your nose with air when you use the Comfortlite, the Swift and any other tapered pillow type end.
I always said that the nasal aire was more comfortable expecially at high pressure. So much so that many people don't even use a humidifier,
the air is that smooth and you feel the difference.

Wow, I thought it was me! I recently tried the ComfortLite 2. I started with the medium pillows and felt like I was suffocating. I lasted about a minute and a half. I switched to the large and they seemed fine although if I had the interface on either before or after I started the airflow on my machine I found it very difficult to breathe through the mask. I don't have that problem with my Breeze. Things didn't work between me and the CL2. We just weren't right for each other.
