A full week !

Post by sleephunter » Tue Aug 21, 2007 9:02 am

Hello everyone,

Well its been a full week since I had my machine changed out for a RemStar Auto A-Flex and I have to say I have never been happier!!!

I bought the card reader, got my hands on the software and started tracking day by day my usage as well as changes.

My AHI has been a solid 1.0 for a full week now even though my pressures have ranged from 9 - 11. I have slept soundly from anywhere between 5 hours to 10.5 hours (on Sat )

One final hurdle to get past is being able to get to bed without the help of the anti-anxiety meds I am using. But the use of Melatonin has been a god send. .5mg before bedtime and within 20 minutes I am laying down for a full nights rest.

I haven't felt this good in years !!!

Thank you all for your help, understanding and guidance over the past few weeks. For all those struggling, listen to these guys and gals. They know what they are talking about and CAN help !!!

I just wanted to add that the change from C-Flex to A-Flex was Life Changing. Even my doctor was impressed with how big a change the two technologies are.

Originally the product information regarding A-Flex led my doctor to say "Just sounds like they upgraded their algorithms". But my doctor was still open enough to write the prescription specifically for the A-Flex.

My sleep doctor has been wonderful and willing to listen to everything I tell him about my experiences. He even wanted feedback on the Bravo Nasal mask I started using because the rep that came to his office told him nothing about it and just showed it to him. I let him know how great it was for stomach sleepers like me.

Ironically enough, my steady mask right now is my F&P 431 and I have been sleeping completely on my side without even knowing it !

Oh well. Got to love the collection of masks

Great to hear Bill!

I'm glad that you got a doctor that's willing to work with you. We need more doctors like that. Sometimes, it's easy to vilify the entire medical profession, when we see so much that is wrong with the system. But it's also important that we encourage those who are doing things right.

I work for an organization that advocates for patient health care, and one thing we reiterate over and over to our member health centers is "let the patient be involved in their own care. Their wellness is more important to them than it is to you." Patient Self-Management is more than compliance, it's allowing the patient to take responsibility for his/her own treatment.

I wish more doctors and clinical staff would begin to understand this principle.
