Grossan Hydro Pulse Sinus System

Post by jskinner » Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:01 pm

I have used a Nelimed Nasal Rinse system just about since I started using CPAP.

I found it pretty good but lately with all the nasal problems I have been having I wanted something better. I just got the Grossan Hydro Pulse Sinus System. I have to say I think its great. I have only used it for 3 days so far but it does a far better job at cleaning things out.

My only complaint is that its a bit loud when its running.

I wonder if there is any anti-fungal medicine that could be safely mixed with the liquid?

I've wondered the same thing but I can't really afford to waist what I little antifugal meds I have. Until I get a doctor committed to the idea that that is the problem (and I'd like to be sure also) I think I am SOL.

Grossan Hydro Pulse Sinus System

James,

Glad to hear it is helping you but our allergist did not recommend the Grossan irrigator because she felt it produced too much pressure.

The WaterPik for cleaning between your teeth is the same thing, they have an adapter for those you can buy to convert to a rhino rinse. I have a WaterPik but after using it on my teeth I also felt it has way too much pressure even with no tip installed and on low that thing shoots water across the room.

I use the baby ear aspirator so I can control it better, they yogi's use the neti-pot which is even more gentle.

I also have a Respironics RhinoFlow system, it uses a diffuser that produces almost an ultrasound mist, since it vaporizes the water so much it can push it up deep in the sinuses. It is not a pump it uses a tiny compressor to create a vapor mist.

It works really well but it is kind of a pain to set up and then clean regularly. It is made very well, made like a tank it should last forever. They have since discontinued it.

I've used the Grosan WaterPik adapter for years (don't know whether they still sell the adapter - I got my gratis from my ENT). My adapter came with instructions about adjusting the WaterPik pressure, and I've never experienced problems about too much pressure. But, based on Snoredog's experience, I'd just say that everyone's experience may be different.

An old friend once told me that people will buy anything.

OceanPearl, if you knew what all James has been thru these last 9 months or longer you would be surprised that he hasn't bought everything out there!!!

He had a picture of himself at the height of his sinus/nasal problems that you wouldn't believe it was the same person the area was so swollen!!!

He's been thru hell w/his sinuses and HOPEFULLY is now on his way back since starting CPAP.

Actually I would disagree. When I first got it I was actually disappointed with the pressure compared to what I would get just using the Nelimed bottle. Now having used it for a while I realize it is enough (and that I was probably using to much pressure when using the Nelimed system) The Grossan is not forceful at all but works well.

The following video will give you a little idea of the pressure coming out of the unit http://hydromedonline.com/HydroPulseWEB_Sm.mov

The advantage of the Hydro Pulse over the WaterPiks is the pulsating nature of its water flow. This stimulates the nasal cilia which move along the mucuous material.

To say "people will by anything" really doesn't do this machine nay fair justice. It truly is remarkable and you will only know it when you've tried.

I'd almost go as far as saying every CPAP user should use it. It works wonders on your ENT system.
