Leak Question

Post by ZZZCPAPZZZ » Wed Aug 15, 2007 1:30 pm

How much does leak matter? The other night I used a Liberty FF mask. When I checked the data it said the leak rate was around 63lpm. That is high since the rate shone in the booklet say around 48 for my pressure range 14 - 18. My APAP showed lower 90% pressure than it has ever shown before and my AHI was 1.3. Does this make sense to anyone. I stopped using the mask and went back to my Quatro because of the leak, but the Liberty was much more comfotable and I would prefer using it. Also the flow limitation was the lowest it has ever been. I am confused.

If the leak rate becomes too high, the data doesn't measure treatment correctly. At 62 LPM, I'd be better off strapping the XPAP to the bedroom door. Any time I go over 38 LPM, it time to fix the problem. Jim
