I took my cpap on my trip to the casinos with my son and a friend this past weekend. I felt so much better!!! My son stayed in the same room with me and my snoring was almost non-existant (is that a word???). At home, the only one I sleep with is my dog and I did not know if cpap was helping with my snoring or not. YES - IT WORKS
I will admit one very important fact. We did not sleep a lot while there since we both love the casino and all the different games - poker, blackjack, etc. The few hours that I did sleep were very restful with cpap. We did have a knock on the door at 5:30 am - room service had wrong room - My son went to the door - I would have caused panic if I had gone to the door with hoses, etc. Can you imagine the talk about room 3037 - talk about kinky .
This trip has really changed my attitude about using cpap. I am now committed more than ever about cpap. My son, who has been so worried about his mom, told me he felt that I looked more rested with 3 hours of sleep than he has seen me in a long time.
I hope this information helps someone who may have had some doubts about traveling with cpap. Also, the bellcaps were familiar with my machine and were very careful with it. When I pointed it out to them, they were already aware of what it was and how to handle it. I found this amazing and reasured. I am not a freak after all .
When I got home, however, I went to sleep on the sofa because I was so tired. No restful sleep. Going to get a good sleep tonight with my wonderful cpap.
Love to all hose heads - I am one now.

First Trip with my cpap
I just had my first night of sleep study. My questions is, when I have the gastric bypass surgery and lose weight, will I still have to wear this equipment? I have not received all results, but oxygen level did go down to 76. That they did not like.

That's an encouraging story. I have been thinking over how I will manage it. I go visit family a few times a year and I worry that this machine will keep somebody awake. I usually end up rooming with one of the teenage daughters, she has the extra space. She's a sweet kid. Gee, a teenager these days who actually likes her old aunt to visit. I'm concerned about going camping. We don't camp as much as we used to, but there is a family reunion every Summer where everybody brings their RV or tent and we all take over a state park for a weekend and have a good old time together. We just have an old pop up tent trailer and we haven't got electricity. It needs rewiring. I wish I could afford the big facy RVs that some of my relatives have. They are almost posh! But we don't camp that often. Some of them are retired and go RVing all over the place. I know that Backpacking is definitely out of the picture now. DH and I used to do that back in the day. He'd still like to, and could. His old partner has just given out though. However, we do have a littl burro now and some large, friendly goats. We could teach one of those girls to carry a pack for me and take off. Now, if you want surefootedness, there's your animal. And you'll have the freshet milk on the trail every day!
Traveling with CPAP
I travel constantly with my CPAP (weekly). I have two machines, a RES Pro which stays at home and a 420 G which stays in the suitcase. The only part that I didn't have two of was the mask. I left that at home a couple of weeks ago, and had to have my wife FEDEX it two me. For 2 nights I didn't sleep. (at least it didn't feel like it) I also go camping monthly and taking the machine with me is not a problem. Since you are camping with several family members, I would suggest a quick extension cord to solve your problem. Most campgrounds have electricity at all sites weather you use it or not. At the very least, you can borrow your neighbors electricity to run your machine. Another option is to buy an inverter. The only problem is carrying the battery. Not too portable. Either way, don't miss a night of therapy, or you will feel it!!
travel with c-pap
Three days after I got my c-pap, I flew out on spring break. I had no problems at any airport (except for carrying the bag). I find my machine quiet and have not had any complaints about it.
I wonder how often people wash their tubes and head gear? I know what was recommended to me, but when I wash them in the morning.....they still have water droplets in them at night.....is there an easy way of keeping them clean?
I am finding the postings here helpful and informative!!!
