Please Help - Nose Sore

Post by HisServ » Wed Aug 15, 2007 11:29 am

I'm using the activa mask which for the most part I really like and is working well for me.... except... I have had this sore on the bridge of my nose for about a month now and it won't go away... I've tried using a bandaid there at night but that doesn't really help. Do you have any ideas? I tried switching to a different mask, but none of them are as comfortable as the activa... Please help!

Sore nose

Have you tried adjusting the upper bridge to your forehead so it takes the pressure off your nose? This worked for me. Just push the button in the center and move to another notch so the mask is farther from your nose. Regards jim

Moleskin works. Also, padacheek has a fix for my Quattro mask that included a bridge cover so it would not rub there. Check hr out.

that is a pressure sore, you need to allow it to heal, usually it is from a mask that is incorrectly sized (i.e. too small), it causes the mask to ride down lower on the nose and put too much pressure.

As for masks go, the Activa puts probably the least amount of pressure on your nose (if you are not tightening up the straps too much). You have to ask, but I heard moleskin helps, think you place the moleskin on the mask cushion where it is causing the problem vs on your skin.

You may need to go to a different interface so it can heal properly like with a Swift or other interface.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I had multiple pressure sores after my titration study from a ComfortClassic. I currently have a pressure sore on the bridge of my nose from a loaner mask I tried out Friday night. I was very comfortable with it on, but apparently the pressure of it from my head on the pillow was enough to cause a sore: an angry red mark, followed by little pus blisters. Today is the first day since that it doesn't hurt to the touch. Fun stuff.

I'll be sticking with a nasal pillow type interface, personally.
