Saw my sleep doc today and took in all my charts and graphs (thank you James Skinner). At first he said he didn't trust the data from the machines. I kept pointing things out to him like my 30 sec average apneas with AHIs of 7+. He first was going to up my cpap pressure. I got up all my courage and asked if he ever prescribed apaps for people having trouble. He said sure, lets try it for a month and come back in with your graphs and lets see! My DME (big plug for OptionCare) is going to trade me out on Monday and I'll get my chance to see if that really makes a difference. I get to try it for at least a month which will be plenty of time to see if it really helps. I've never had two good nights in a row. I can tell if I slept well by how I feel when I wake up. If I am irritated (for no good reason) and clumsy when I wake up, my numbers are bad. If I wake up and don't need to keep hitting the snooze alarm, my numbers are good. Fingers crossed!
Yahoo! I'm getting an APAP!!

Hey, that's great Robbie! Way to advocate for yourself . It's nice to know that some docs actually listen to their patients and are willing to humour them even if they don't really believe.
I finally understand now about knowing when you wake up whether it was a good night or a bad night. I had two good nights in a row this week, and was actually singing along with an oldie on the radio within a couple of minutes of waking up... now that's a miracle
Good luck with the apap. Let us know if it works better for you.

Congratulations!
I have a feeling that you will grow to love the APAP! I bet you won't be ready to give it back after the month is over! If I were you I'd persuade the doc to let you keep it full time! After trying a much lesser machine for one night, I as totally convinced that the auto is the only way to go!

Thanks all, I will definately keep you posted. I am trying a new mask now too, a Comfort Lite 2 and like the nose mask best. The first night was great, had an AHI of 1.5 very good for me. Next night the first part said my AHI was 20 lol the second half it was 2.6 also very good for me.
When I first got here, there was a lot of talk about if APAP was a good machine for full time. I heard lots of heated opinions. Now I wonder what on earth all the commotion is about. Anything that makes doing this crazy treatment easier is a blessing!

YAY ROBBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!
My personal opinion - some people don't like the pressure changes running in Auto mode. I don't seem to respond well to it. I seem to prefer straight cpap mode better. BUT, I'm still experimenting. I still think the APAP with AFLEX is the cadillac machine and you should definitely get the option to get that, if you want it.
Happy happy joy joy!!!!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
