Ebay Again

Well I am having getting this to work. I am 6PtStar but I can't log in. The post was mine but it locked up so here goes again.
I need advise from you folks that frequent ebay. It has been 5 years since I bought anything on ebay. I reactivated my account and gort set up with PayPal. Last friday (8/3/07) I was high bidder on a HC 150 humidifier. The seller was adament about having communication with the buyer. He also required communication within 24 hours and payment within 48 hours. I sent him an email and payment through PayPal 2 hours after the bid closed. I have since sent 3 more e-mails with no responce. He also stated in his post that shipment would be made within 24 hours after payment was received. I can not get any responce from him nor has the humidifier been received.
How much longer should I wait to hear from him. What is the procedure for getting your money back from PayPal If I can't get in touch with him? Anyone bought anything from "trialguru". He had a 99.3% rating with 141 sales.

In my opinion, with that many sales and that high of an approval rating, he won't risk it all over a humidifer. I suspect either he is having computer problems, is sick, or has already shipped the device and simply forgot to thank you.
I would assume in the best intentions of others, at least for a few more days.

The feedback on the seller looks pretty good. He only has one negative and it was from a seller that had lots of negative feedback himself.
Follow the directions on Paypal and eBay if you do not hear back from the seller. When I sold on eBay, there were times when things happened and it took me awhile to get back to a buyer. Emergencies happen that are not in your control. Give him a chance first. I don't know how far the item is shipping, that can be very slow. People get very reactive on eBay and it may be that everything is ok -- just a little slow. I have regreted the times I over reacted both as a buyer and a seller. It is not quite time to get worried yet.

Nothing cures insomnia like the realization that it's time to get up!

I agree with DG. Send him emails through Ebay, through PayPal, and directly from you, to ensure he gets them.
I'd hold on a little longer. Most LARGE sellers have a standard template that they use to post all their sales with. He probably used that standard terminology, then had a life hiccup and had to run to Peoria to visit his dying Grandpa, and will be quite contrite when he gets back to you.
Do give him the benefit of the doubt a little longer.

I wouldn't get too excited about it at this point. When I sell anything on eBay, I stay in contact with the buyer. As soon as I receive payment I send them a note to acknowledge it and let them know when the item will be shipped. I usually leave them positive feedback as soon as I get the money and I send them another note when the item was actually shipped.
However, when I've been on the buying end of it, I learned pretty quickly that some sellers are very slow to respond or ship. Some never respond to emails at all, but in all but one case I have received the item within two or three weeks. My rule of thumb is to wait about 30 days before getting too concerned.
By the way, in 75 purchases I've only been really burned once. I never received the merchandise (small price, thankfully), nor did I ever get a response from the seller to any of my queries. I eventually received a note from eBay saying that the seller had been banned.
The point is that most of the time, things turn out okay.

I have sent messages both ways with no response. I think he said it was to be shipped FedEx ground from Wilmington, Delawate to Texas. FedEx says 4 days max.
"Shipping of your item is generally initiated within 24 hours upon receipt of funds in the amount equal to the purchase price and shipping/insurance. No returns accepted. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions!
Winning Bidder MUST contact Seller within 24 hours of auction close. Payment must be made via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close!
Communication: I have an excellent, 100% positive feedback rating and am a trustworthy seller. I believe in communication between Buyer and Seller from auction end to the receipt of item"
The quote is from his auction site and is all in bold red letters. I guess I am concerned because of his insistance and almost stubborn demands. I guess I there could be something wrong, computer down, etc. But with this kind of insistance I would have thought he would have found a way to contact me and let me know what is going on. I will wait a bit longer and see what happens.

I think that you might be going a little bit overboard here. For large sellers the insistances are a stock part of their posting. When I buy on ebay i take into realization that the seller might have 500 items listed and cannpt respond immediately to email on every one of them. I allow 10 days for delivery then I send them an email threatning to give them bad feedback. I have only had it happen a couple of times and that is when the item was shipping from Hong Kong.
I just want to go back to sleep!
Everyone is right. I will relax. I'm sure it will work out.

Probably the best approach - in 4 years of eBay buying (both here in Aust & in the US) I have never had a no delivery. Have had a few nervous experiences but they all sorted themselves out - just needed time & keeping cool.6PtStar wrote:Everyone is right. I will relax. I'm sure it will work out.
Paypal will get involved but opening a paypal dispute is a little like pushing a small stone up a steep slope with your nose - it can be done but not an experience you want to try very often
Also with paypal you only have (I think) 60 days to lodge a dispute else they blandly tell you it is too late. I raised a dispute once (had paid an extra $US400 for a special battery for a mini notebook computer that was supposed to be delivered within 2 weeks - 6 weeks later I asked for a refund, 2 weeks after that I got it - but paypal told me bad luck I was outside the claim period - it all worked out ok but it taught me the neccesity to act reasonably swiftly if you want to raise a dispute - ebay are even less helpful ).
Good luck

(must say that I *never* had a 'bad' transaction with any eBay medical supplier in the US - Once I did get a 'scruffy' vetran cpap machine but it was so cheap and purchased out of curiosity that it was no big deal, but I did post as feedback 'where did you source the machine, from a dumpster'.

Gotta protect my own 100% rating, you know...
LOL,

The machine is one that I have written about often as smelling like it was retrieved from the burning carcass of a wooden house.
It smells strongly of 'heavy' house fire. No amount of stripping it to bits & cleaning it ever changed the acrid intensity of the burned smell.
The machine only cost me $20 all up (like I said, curiosity) and was a very old PB 318 CPAP. I really only bought it to pull apart, photo it & add to my museum (which I did)
