remstar aflex - please help me change the pressure settings

Post by barbpsleep » Mon Aug 06, 2007 8:01 pm

HI all,

I hesitate to ask this because I imagine it's been asked before. But I couldn't find through a search how to change the settings on the remstar aflex.

I've been using a Resmed Auto on a trial for a couple of months. My doc had ordered it set for 5 to 20, though I was titrated at 8. I was waking with it blowing off my face - but the runaway pressure was another story in a previous thread.

After learning from others' experiences posts how to change the setting on the resemd, my experience improved. I changed the pressure from 6 to 10 and enabled the settling feature that the DME had thought was unnecessary. Despite the improvement, I find that I'm still waking several times a night, I think when the pressure changes. I'm a very light sleeper.

When I posted my question about dealing with the runaway pressure on the resmed, a bunch of you super folks helped me understand the impact of the various machines' algorithms. I've seen so many people rave about the aflex. So, before purchasing the resmed that I've been trying, I told the DME that I want to try the aflex. Naturally, I've got to bring back the resmed before she'll give me the remstar, which I guess is reasonable. But she was a bit disconcerted when I mentioned that I'd found greater comfort once I changed the resmed settings and that I'd want to change them similarly on the aflex. She has to set it as the doc ordered and probably won't be willing to share the information needed to access the menu. (I'm going to remember restedgal's response in another thread about the ridiculous lack of trust in OSA patients to adjust pressure when patients are trusted to properly take meds and give themselves injections.) I know I could call the doc, to have the scrip changed, but I really don't want to wait days to hear back from the nurse.

So...can someone share directions for accessing the menu in the remstar aflex? Is there a specific place on the site where such information has been compiled? I thought I'd seen a blog with settings information, but I can't seem to find it again.

I'm also curious about how the DME's price will compare to that of our host.

Thanks very much,

Barb

Unplug the machine... while you plug it in, press the left and right buttons... it'll take you to a menu... follow the menu using left and right, up and down.

Note: write down all of your settings before you change anything!
