Purr sleep and the best Ahi ever

Post by Sleepdeprived » Fri Aug 03, 2007 5:42 am

Two night ago I tried purr sleep for the first time

I used the clear

My Ahi for the night was 1.6

The best I have ever recorded even when taping

Last night I used peace

I have not looked at my numbers yet but I dont think the results will be as good.

pur-sleep an awesome product

Post by usmarine » Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:05 am

This is my first post on the forum, just signed up. I have been using Pur-sleep aromatherapy for the past 6 weeks. I have had a BIPAP machine for 7 months. It has been life changing for me. I use the Swift II air pillows with a BIPAP machine. Before using the Pur-Sleep aromatherapy I never kept my mask on for more than 4 hours a night for the six months I have been on CPAP. Alot of nights I just didn't use CPAP and woke up feeling lousy. The first night I got the Pur-Sleep product (starter pack) I put the oil on the diffuser, placed the diffuser by the air intake, and went to bed. The smell (clear) smelled so good I found myself voluntarily taking breaths, just to get more of the smell. I fell asleep quickly and woke up refreshed the next morning with my mask still on and functioning. Sleep Guy has a great product here that certainly works for me. This is the first product I have ever reviewed online, but I wanted to share the HUGE benefit it has provided to me. I NEVER would have believed something this simple could make CPAP therapy FINALLY work for me after 7 months of frustration.

I’m about to try Purr sleep but I am a little bit hesitant. Aren’t we playing a role of self-anesthesiologist here? If overdosed and with combination of other medicines many of us are taking what could happen?
What about long term affects?

A few thoughts about this. I don't believe there's much evidence that aromatics are drugs like anesthesia etc. or that they bring about effects the same way drugs do. Things that smell good do have a calming and relaxing effect but that has to do with the sense of smell than a drug interaction.

Human olfactory neurons are the only sensory neurons that are directly connected with the outside environment. They are also directly connected to the cortical regions of the brain, the limbic system, without passing through the brain stem. So our reactions to smells are highly emotional and smells we find to be pleasant help us relax. It's really that simple.

There's also a great deal of history using aromatics. Since ancient times, lavender has been used extensively in pillows to help induce sleep. All of the essential oils used are generally recognized as being safe for human consumption by the FDA. This is not to say that EOs should be ingested but rather from a toxic exposure standpoint, ingestion poses the most practical risk as compared to breathing.

Personally, the long-term effects of not using my cpap include things like death, diabetes, depression, stroke, hypertension, heart disease, and simply not being able to function. I gladly exchange those risks with the risk of breathing a drop of peppermint or lavender oil.

Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

I personally like peace myself, I sleep like a log using it. I tried spice and for some reason woke up angry (very unlike me). I tried taking a daytime nap with the spice and got very anxious..So I will stick to peace.

Hi

I did not seem to do as good with peace. I had a hard time falling asleep but it may have been coincedence. Tonight I go back to clear after a very rough long day at work

Tomorrow maybe spice before trying peace again

I've been mixing peace with spice, peace with clear, peace with deep......
After receiving my sample package I bought 3 other oils and another bottle of peace. The only one I really haven't "taken to" is paradise.....
It may have to grow on me.
I usually use one drop of each on the pad. The heavy fragrance is gone in a few hours, but when I wake up in the morning there is still enough to cover that lovely plastic smell we get in our CPAP machines.
Also -- I don't clean my pads (yet). I just keep adding different fragrances to them.

I've been realllllllly happy with my pur-sleep stuff!!!! Going to try the other air system as well one of these days soon!!

cheers

You're not alone. I don't use Peace by itself. For whatever reason it makes me wake up during the night and I don't like that. Most of the others, particularly Clear and Spice, zonk me right out. Other people have the opposite experience. Go figure!

The way I think of it, either way you are smelling something: either the plastic smell of the machine and its components, or the Pur-Sleep oils. I'd be willing to try anything to make the disgusting "plastic stink" go away.

Just my opinion.
