Why does chest hurt when laying on left side?

Post by Babette » Thu Aug 02, 2007 4:12 pm

This doesn't happen EVERY SINGLE TIME, but I never noticed it before maybe a year or two ago. Before Xpap.

Sometimes when I lay on my left side to sleep, my chest hurts. It goes away as soon as I roll over. Or sometimes, it lingers a low level.

I read on this forum about a guy with an enlarged heart who couldn't sleep on his left side. I don't THINK I have that...

Anyone else have this issue? It feels like something's squeezing my left breast. And no, I'm not SQUISHING my breast when I roll over.

Cheers,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Did you ever see "The Entity?" Sounds like you're going to need a team of parapsychologists and a whole lot of liquid helium to get out of this one...

In all seriousness, it's probably worth getting checked out since left side issues *can* be related to the heart. Hopefully everything will check out okay!

I had that from a sliding hiatus hernia. When you are on the other side it doesn't slide up. It felt like a fist in my left chest and back or felt tight. It was actually my stomach trying to creep up my esophagus.....Does it feel like that? Nexium cured it btw. I hope you find out what it is. you can have a barium swallow to see if it is a hernia.

below is a similar question and answer (i.e. see your doctor):

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/cardio/me ... 35718.html

can't you just flop that thing over your right shoulder so you don't squish it?

Will, you're freaking me out... No, I never saw that movie, and now I really don't want to see it.

Oh no... I'm not liking any of these answers.

And I'm particularly not liking the new mysterious bump that I discovered on the top of my foot yesterday. About the size of a ping pong ball that hasn't fully come out of the skin...

I think maybe it's time to just crawl off into the woods without a blanket...

(KIDDING! Don't freak...)

I wonder if this is cause to take that GERD medicine the doc gave me which I'm ignoring?

Thanks all!!!!!
B.

babs, this sounds like a ganglion cyst...check out this link: http://www.footphysicians.com/footankle ... n-cyst.htm

or you can just google 'lump on top of foot' and lots of stuff comes up

EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!

What's particularly HEINOUS to me is that my mother had one of these last summer. It looked HORRIBLE and freaked me out terribly. She finally had it removed. I was NOT HAPPY to discover myself turning into my mother last night...

Thanks Sharon! I think I will try to ignore this for a few days. Maybe some ice. See what happens.

Cheers,
B.

If it is a ganglion cyst, here is a bit of trivia for you....
They used to be called bible cysts because the cure was to just slam a heavy book ( a bible) down on them and pop them.

I had one on my wrist a few years ago but opted for surgery instead.

Good luck

Hell, being an escaped Okie, you probably need to be hit with a Bible. I'm sure you aren't getting your minimum daily requirement of guilt, shame, and damnation up there in the Northwest.

Just kidding. Hope it's nothing serious.

No worries... I'm heading for the family reunion in two weeks. Nothing that a full immersion in my grandma's baptismal font can't cure...

Sigh... You can take the girl out of OK, but you can't take the Foot Washing Southern Baptist completely out of the girl.

LOL,
B.

LOL, I'm a recovering Southern Baptist, too....LOL

A friend of mine says he was never closer to the gates of hell then at the doors of the Southern Baptist Church. I'd have to agree.

I enjoyed reading "The Jesus I Never Knew" by Phillip Yancey. You can probably relate to some of the things he experienced in his younger days.

How come ex-Catholics get recovery support groups, but ex-Baptists don't?

Maybe we should start one...

My sister was so traumatized by it she became Mormon.

Okay, I have to stop now. This is public and we'll hurt someone I don't want to hurt.

Hugs,
B.
