HELP!!! Adjusting Pressure Resmed Pro

Post by BigDaddy420 » Sat Apr 09, 2005 3:24 am

Ive had sleep apnea since i was a child and i dont have insurance so im finding it almost impossible to replace my cpap. I went without one for 2 years and now ive finally got my hands on one, a Respironics RESMED Pro with Cflex. its only 2 months old, hardly used. but how do i adjust the pressure? it has a smart card, i didnt really know what that was at first but i read up on it, and i see that stores information on your sleep patterns. can anyone help me on adjusting the pressure? id really appreciate it, i havent had a decent nights sleep in over 2 years!!!

Well whatever you do, don't unplug the unit, then hold down the 2 gray buttons, and them plug it back in... Makes DME'S unnecessary...

The REMSTAR Pro only stores compliance data. You would have to have the new PRO2 to get AHI info.

Ya guys are nuts...Note to self never unplug machine hold down buttons and plug it back in....I'm wanting to try a little more pressure myself but I havr to head back this week to have my card read and I'm not sure how my Dr. would look at me changing it myself. But with a starting pressure of 5 I sure notice no difference at all!!! th or mike if you slipped and pmed the proper way to not do this I would appreciate it....

Bi-PAP Pro 2

Post by BigHeart » Sat Apr 09, 2005 11:37 am

Don't ever do that on a Respironics Bi-PAP Pro 2 either, because even though it's not part of your prescription, people shouldn't be monkeying around with the ramp time on their own. Only DME's have the training to decide if your ramp time should be 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or up to 45 minutes, because they know exactly how long it takes you to go to sleep.

And only DME's should decide if you should use the Bi-Flex feature or not, since they have so much experience with these machines. Some of them have even tried the machines with the pressure on for a few minutes sometime during their extensive training. To summarize, patients should never get into the clinician's menu on the Bi-PAP Pro 2, because they wouldn't be able to figure out how to navigate through it, since the owner's manual only explains how to navigate through the user's menu, and the clincian's menu is very different. If you do accidentally hold those 2 grey buttons down while plugging the machine in, you can get out of the clincian's menu immediately, before changing anything, by hitting the on/off button.

Bigheart, Mikesus and th,

Thanks for that warning about what NOT to do with our cpap machines. I'm sure none of us will do any of the things you have warned us NOT to do. As Bigheart says, many of the DMEs have actually used these machines for several minutes and have been trained to know more about our personal sleep habits than we could ever know. Amazingly smart people those DMEs are.
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

as i appreciate all the info, this doesnt help me, i know i "Should" goto a doctor, but without money or insurance most doctors would rather you just died than give you 2 bits of information. unfortunately most doctors are just high paid mafia, pay the price, or die. sad but true. so can anyone out there tell me what i "NEED" to do to raise the pressure on my Respironics RESMED Pro CPAP w/CFlex?

Now, hopefully you didn't do what you weren't supposed to do, and aren't receiving any benefit that you weren't supposed to get.
