Post by cg30sailor » Thu Jul 26, 2007 2:37 pm

recently,I have been having a problem with waking up to go to the little boys room If I go to bed after midnite at about 6am and cannot go back to sleep.WIDE Awake. no matter how I sleep. (my ahi is consistently at 1.5 or less, and I tape). This drives me completely nuts.
I do not drink anything 3 hours b4 bed. If I go to sleep at say 10 pm it doesnt happen. I can't control this because I drive truck and cant set my own schedule.
I also take 100 mg of atenolol for high blood pressure and 20 mg of celexa for hypertension. This is ruining my sleep at nite, and overall,I feel like a hundred bucks. anyone have any suggestions other than not drinking anything at all? thanx

One guess is that your time in the U.S. Coast Guard had something to do with your problem. I know that all those mid watches and 4 to 8's messed up my sleep architecture. Hopefully you can re-train your body to sleep 8 hours again . I think that once your body gets the shut eye time that it is used to, it will automatically want to wake up. With time you should be able to get the sleep that you want, and need.

Welcome to my world. I'm neither a service member nor on those medications.

I blame the xpap, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

From having kids I can only tell you that sleep begetts sleep. Longer sleep also begets more and better sleep.

When you go to bed at a good time for you, your body responds appropriately. When you overtire yourself you don't sleep as well. This goes contrary to popular thought on sleep and to common sense really. But it is well documented.

I learned it from a book called, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth. Which you may not care to read unless you have an infant or small child.

I had trouble with BP meds and being sleepy during the day. This trashed my sleeping at night until I started taking the meds at 4pm so I was awake during the day and going to bed 6 hours after taking the meds. I get 7.5 hours of sleep and get up at least once without having a problem getting back to sleep. Try new schemes for a week and then re-adjust if it does not help. Good luck with the sleeping and get your Doc. involved if the meds continue to be the problem, they have many options for BP and I have had a wide range of reactions to the different types. There is likely to be a better med for controlling your BP.

I try to tell my friends that all the time that oggle over my kids wonderful sleep habit sno one buys it but its true. Both my toddlers have always been excellent sleepers and between bed time routine and putting them down BEFORE they get too tired are 2 of the most important factors.

I believe this totally. I can never sleep when I'm over-tired. I have such bad nights and just ache all over.

thanx for all the replys...I have been on several types of anti-depressants,but never changed bp meds. maybe thats the answer. I afraid the doc is going to get sick of me!!
However I do agree, going to bed over tired is not a good idea and I do sleep worse when that happens. I just wish I could sleep longer and 4or 5 hours after going to bed at 2am
