Nasal Prong masks, are there others?

Post by Mtnman » Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:14 pm

I'm on night 5 with my nasalair II and all in all it's going pretty well. Two nights I had it come off my nose and woke up to it blowing away. Not sure how long it was off either night.

My nares are very narrow so I think they prong style maks is going to be best for me. Are there other prong style masks or is the nasalair the only one? Since the nasalair is my first mask, I'm thinking I should explore others.

Thanks!

I have a long, narrow, aquiline nose so the prongs seem to work best for me too.

The mask I have (I'm still on my first) is the Comfortlite2:

It's good because it offers all three types of nose pieces...pillows, cushion, and prongs. The pillows and cushion leaked and rubbed my nose raw.

However, the prong one creates a perfect seal. They call it "direct seal" though, but it is essentially a prong system. It also has a small metal piece at the bottom so it can be adjusted.

It's also well suited to side-sleeping.

Take a look at the Fisher-Paykel 481 Infinity. It's really minimalist, especially with the micro headgear. I've been using one for 3 or 4 months with pretty good success.

It doesn't seem to have made much of an impact on the market, so you might have a little trouble finding it, but it might be at a good price, too.

Ive tried a host of prongs. The Nasal aire I and II are the best I've found. I like the nasalaire I cannula more than the II , but the II is quieter. It's fantastic on Bravo headgear.
