How many of you are 100% compliant?

Post by Refugee » Sun Jul 22, 2007 6:24 pm

I am curious how many of you are 100% compliant with your xpap therapy. By this I mean EVERY time you are asleep for any reason you use your machine, except for maybe nodding off for a minute or 2 like when watching TV or something. I see many posts about people taking their masks off part way through the night or in the morning.

Like many people on this board, I had a really hard time adjusting at first. After about a week and a half of not being able to sleep at all with it I gave up completely for several months. In March I decided I was going to make it work no matter what and since then every second I have been asleep has been with my mask on. I am actually somewhat afraid now to sleep at all without it for fear of losing what I have worked so hard to gain.

So, how many of you do the same? Let the poll begin!

I absolutely use it 100% of the time. I'm afraid not to! I felt so horrible in the months leading up to my diagnosis. I have other issues I deal with during the day and don't want to add exhaustion back into the mix. I can't imagine sleeping without it now.

I have beenbasically compliant at night - except when I had my wisdom teeth extracted - OUCH! and I'll have to admit - if I'm taking a 10-20 minute power nap once or twice a week - I don't use my apap. So I'll have to submit my vote for door #2. But those naps have been fewer and and fewer.

I feel very lucky that I took to my cpap like a duck to water. My only issue is staying asleep at between 2 & 4 in the morning - but I always keep my machine going. But that has not happened in the week I've been using pur-sleep.

Missed one night in two years due to a broken mask. Now I have spares. Jim

My six month compliance is 97%. The 3% is mostly due to not inserting the card. I strive to use the hose every time I sleep, including naps, even when traveling.

But 97% is less than 100%, so I selected "almost 100%" in your poll.

I am. Last time I didn't (and it was a good while ago) I felt like garbage when I woke up.

All my sleeping time ... 100%. Without the mask, one good SNORT and I'm awake!

Five months so far and 100% compliant except for one night when two hours into it lost power; first time in years. Personnally, I'm afraid to sleep without the hose as my O2 desaturations drop to the high 50s.

Whoever said "Ignorance is bliss" didn't know anything about OSA.

I am the Queen of Non-Compliance. Ask my doctor. My chart has been color-coded... I have refused each and every little stupid diet she's given me...

But I sleep every night, all night, with my mask, since hitting my "breakthrough" about week 6 of therapy. I too am afraid to be without it. I don't want to lose what I've gained. Big change from weeks 2-6 for me, huh?

BTW, have I thanked all of you who nagged me to stick with it? Thank you for all your nagging, and lengthy threatening PM's and general support. You're the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I'm dozing in front of the TV I don't wear a mask. Usually only do that for a little while, then get up and go to bed anyway.

Cheers,
B.

Only time off in the last several years was recovering from nose surgery and I was MISERABLE!

I never even think about sleeping without my CPAP.

I've been 100% compliant for more than one year now! Only trouble was the first week or so when I had some mask problems, but that was only for a few days. Now I would not even think about sleeping without my mask.
I enjoy living too much!

Missed one night back in August '06 ... so I guess that would make it 99.999% ... So I rounded up to 100%

Almost 14 months here, and 100% compliant after the first two (awful) nights with a UMFF mask. In fact, I guess you could say I was compliant on those two nights, too.... I slept less than three hours, but it was with the mask. I changed to the Breeze on the third night, and hey, presto.... full night's sleep each night since. I average just under 8.5 hours of sleep a night.
