It may be a dream mask for some ... a nightmare for others.

When it comes to masks, it comes down to the face of the beholder.

btw - I myself have not tried that one and likely will not ... but that is because I'm pretty certain that the oily characteristic of my skin will make it difficult to achieve a good seal.

Best of luck finding the best mask for you.

While I agree with Dreamstalker in principle, it was my impression that on the whole it did get more positive responses.

SisterShotgun, try the search button for "quattro" or "quatro" and you'll see the opinions of many who may not be necessarily logged in in those few hours you've got.

I think your big burly beard may cause some leaks too
Actually, the bearded part of my face is the only part that does make a good seal (not tight ...but good). After about 4 hours of sleeping the oils on my face build up to the point that cause leaks around the bridge of my nose. That is why nasal pillow interfaces and the Hybrid work better for me.

Dreamstalker is correct about one mask suiting some better than others. It's a crap shoot, to some extent.

However, despite the fact that you'll hear me whining about the leaky elbow, I think the Quattro is my new favorite mask. I'm glad to have the CF2 around, but I find myself using the HC431/432 almost never, and I find that on the rare occasion that I get a nasal bridge insult, I'd rather use triple antibiotic cream under a ActivFlex Bandaid than resort to the Hybrid, Breeze, ComfortLite, or Activa.

I probably need to change my cpaptalk.com profile.

That's why they make the Schick Quattro.

Quattro

Post by elazarus » Fri Jul 13, 2007 9:50 am

I used the Quattro Full Face mask last night for the first time.

Pro's:
1. Very Comfortable
2. Easy to inhale/exhale

Con's:
1. Leakage when I moved left or right
2 Increased my setting from 9 to 11

Bottom line.....even though I had leaks, I slept better than I did in 8 weeks on XPAP. I will use it TFN and hopefully figure out how to stop the leakage.

Good luck with yours.

Elliot

I had to request a warranty replacement for my Quattro today. The elbow leak issue progressed such that the elbow detached three times from normal hose movement. It had detached twice the night before.

To my vendor's credit, he shipped a replacement today.

I very much like the Quattro, but am very certain that there were substantial defects in the early manufacturing batches. Resmed should issue a recall, IMHO.

Funny that everyone who has contacted ResMed about the leaky elbow has had the response, " We haven't heard about any problems with the elbow joint leaking."

Or maybe not funny.....

ResMed

It makes you think twice about which brand of Machine/Mask/Accessories to buy.

For many of us we have 1/2/3 months of a trial before the Big Payment.....and all of us have a say in the Prescription writing process.

If ResMed never heard of it before, what else have they NEVER heard of?

I know for a fact that they have heard of the defect, multiple times. They are disingenuous if they say otherwise.

My DME sent mine back and said she was told "no one else has had this problem" She also said I was their only patient to complain. They did swap mine out - but with same lot number. Teflon taped it and it has quit hissing at me!
