Resmed ResScan Software

Post by DrowzyDave » Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:59 pm

I just ordered the Resmed ResScan Software from thecpapshop.com for my VPAP III ST. They did not have the cable so I ordered that from my vendor of choice, Cpap.com. I think I have a null modem serial cable on my desk at work but I ordered the Resmed one just to be sure.

Then I noticed that Autoscan is for sale again on cpap.com. It is an older version for $5 less than ResScan. Are Resmed and Respironics changing their policy? Seems like they might as well sell it to patients who want it. If they say up front they won't offer texh support to patients there is no future cost to them. My past RT had no interest in reading my data and my current RT said "Oh I think we tried to download data once from a machine like yours at the office but couldn't get it to work".

Might as well sell software to people who want and know how to use it.

Dave

ResScan is the newest Resmed software and they are probably allowing the sale of the AutoScan to deplete that inventory.

Yes, but I am buying a new copy of ResScan. Hopefully I get it before thecpapshop gets their hand slapped from the "let's keep the software out of the patient's hands" police. After all, it's supply and demand, baby!!

I received the new ResScan software on Monday. Installed it on my PC running Win XP Home with no problems at all. (Its only complaint was that I had the display resolution set to 800x600 instead of 1024x768.)

I connected my VPAP III ST with the null modem cable, started them both up and downloaded the data. The only disappointment was that it seems that the VPAP III ST only stores about 4 days of detailed data but the summary data was there all the way back to May 1 which is when it started recording. Oh, and I can't export the data. I was hoping to be able to export the data to examine it in Excel or Access. Oh well, I will have to take a look at the directory structure and see if the data is in an ODBC accessible format.

It is a little inconvenient to have to take the machine to the room where the computer is to do the download. The VPAP III ST does not use a card, it has a serial port on the back. I am still trying to figure out how to tweak the reports for better viewing -- specifically how to get the detail graph to just show an 8 hour period instead of 24 and how to get more days of the summary graphs to show when there is ample room for them.

I am sure if I call ResScan tech support they would be more than happy to assist me. Or I could call my RT . . . no wait, she told me they tried to download data from a machine like mine once but could not get it to work.

Per AutoScan help, "For the S8 AutoSet, S8 Elite, AutoSet Spirit, S7 Elite and VPAP III series, the Night Profile contains graphs for up to five sessions. The memory storage in the flow generator has room for five sessions of data, but if the device is turned on after midday, the most recent data will be transferred to the next position, leaving the last position free to record new data. Download the data before midday in order to have access to all five sets of records.

Data storage is fixed at five sessions and 500 events."

From what Aussiegrouch said here viewtopic/t22137/Need-help-re-S8-datacard.html, ResScan dropped the file export feature previously found in AutoScan. Not sure what other 'improvements' they made...

Darn, maybe I should have gotten Autoscan instead. Oh well, I will have to have a look at the data structure and see what I can do . . .

Dave,

The ResScan I have looked at allows you select any time span from 30 mins to 24 hrs & to scroll left & right at the bottom of the charts.

Have you found this yet ?

ResScan is quite different to how AutoScan displays data. Am still not 100% up with how to read some of it. When I can get it worked out I'll post a set of screen grabs on my website.

The software was very very easy to install.

Graham,

Kincumber (off Empire Drive ?) - lovely spot on Brisbane Water.
Have spent many a holiday just over on the coast at Kilcare plus
also with friends in Ettalong.

Those bays & beaches are still among the northern areas' (north of the Hawkesbury) best kept secrets

But changing faster than most can keep track of

Cheers

Doug

PS just bought a car from someone in Erina. A vetran car - mainly for parking in the garage & looking at hoping to collect it next Sat morning.

Can you point to the vendor?
Thanks.

Doug,

It sure is a nice part of the country!

We moved here a few years ago from Bega, way down south due to health issues, had to get to a warmer climate.

Good luck with your new car!

Graham

Yes, I have found that in the Review portion but I don't know how to make it stay that way when you convert it to a report.

Dave,

Are you into image capture & manipulation (freeware via irfanview) as you can do a screen grab using ALT-SysReq & then open irfanview - paste the grabbed image, then save it as a jpeg or print it.

My only foray near Bega was as a young man visiting a particular friend on a property in Bombala. Also recently had friends who had a spread just out of Cooma but who sold out to move to Bega.

Must admit I like the northern coast (north of the Hawkesbury but am very fond of the Eden Monaro district - just watching Stephen Larken (an Eden-Monaro boy) against the All Blacks. Bledisloe Cup match

Which version of ResScan was purchased? The version available at http://www.thecpapshop.com seems to be 31068 whereas the version indicated on ResMed's site appears to be "ResScan Software 31301."

Is the ResScan software updatable via ResMed's servers?
