advantage of using software..

Post by Dave2you » Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:27 pm

I have a remstar pro M serieis CPAP.

I don't have the computer software to go with it, is that something I should invest in?

what would be the benifit, the machine already tells me my apnea's and hypoapneas, leak and compliance.

What else does the software give you...

Hey Dave,
The software gives you a graphical view of your stat's.
Presently the Encore Pro software is not available for sale -- I'm guessing that some doc's whined that the patients were becoming too knowledgeable -- what a concept!!!!

One problem with the software is that it really isn't written for you and me. It's written for clinics and doc's to track many patients. I have mine set for one patient -- me.

Still provides me with an excellent view of the stats. I printed one report from my first 10 days and took it to the doc with some prospective recommendations and she re-wrote the Rx for exactly what I asked for.

Now I'm fighting with the DME to make them provide what she prescribed (APAP for automatic titrating). Same billing number to the ins. company, but the APAP machine costs about $100 more than the CPAP (as near as I can tell), so their profit isn't quite as outrageous...

I'm looking at the MyEncore "add on" to see about more meaningful reports (still requires the Encore Pro DB software).
If you can get it, I would say, yes -- it's worth it

good luck
cheers
gg

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

Well, maybe it does and maybe it doesn't.

When I started my treatment I believed the numbers on the machine. After a week I got a printout of my data from my DME. They glanced at the numbers, noticed my AHI was reasonable, and said "It looks like you're doing great!"

When I looked at the results more closely, I realized that I was spending up to 80% of the night in the "large leak" state where the leaks were so bad the machine wasn't attempting to record any apneas or hypopneas.

Without the software showing me the full data, I wouldn't have known that the numbers on the machine represented only 20% of the night.

I'm not a doctor, my highest degree is a Master's.

Can also be frustrating if you don't get the numbers you need and don't quite know what to do about it especially if you thought you were doing so good before you saw the numbers.
