All of you who need help for mouth breathing, I use the Mirage Activa with the Respironics Premium Chinstrap and it seems to work fine. Yes I had to fiddle around with the adjustments but I was expecting the worst when I started the chinstrap. I did not want to give up my Activa and now I can still use it. It is not that uncomfortable, it hurts slighty on my left ear, so I just use a little padding there.
Respironics Premium Chinstrap-Good news for mouth breathers
I think that one is better than the "deluxe" version being sold, I have one of those in my dud drawer it is garbage in my opinion.
Avoid those that pull your chin back, those can close off the airway which is the opposite of what you want to happen.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Agree with you here Snoredog - I have struggled with chin straps since starting cpap therapy almost 2 years ago. Have used the sullivan with the most success - just due to it's simplicity.Snoredog wrote: Avoid those that pull your chin back, those can close off the airway which is the opposite of what you want to happen.
Blarg once stated that he made his own chin strap, so as I was folding my husbands t-shirts I had an idea myself. I just cut off the bottom part of one of his oldest (and softest!) 100% cotton t-shirt. Put the bottom hem with about 2 inches of t-shirt under my chin and wrapped it on top of my head, tied the ends together, cut off the remainder and voila! A very soft chin strap from a t-shirt I sure hope my hubby does not miss! (It was torn and headed to the dust bin anyway!)
After using the chin strap for so long, I am realizing that my mouth/chin just needs a gentle reminder to stay shut! Nice, soft and the price was right!
