Electric Plugs

Post by Georgia Hosehead » Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:31 pm

I just returned from a trip to Norway where I took my P&B 420e APAP and heated humidifier. It worked like a champ on the 220 volt, 50 hertz power. Using my standard US extension cord, all I needed was a simple plug adapter. Back home, it works on 120 volts and 60 hertz power. It's a great piece of equipment. Georgia Hosehead

My Remstar "M" worked perfectly there too and on the Hurtigruten (Kong Harald). I got a heavy duty plug adapter to be on the safe side. I was glad I took an extension cord because the plugs were never in a convenient place. I had no trouble going through security. I announced that I had a CPAP machine and one screener simply said "I see it".

Hope you enjoyed your Norwegian vacation as much as I did mine.

Lucky guy, I hope it was great! I love the Scandi countries and would love to get to see them some day.

As far as electricity, 220 is usually a pretty safe feat to tap down to 120, altho it's good to hear that you've had success with it (do let us know if something electrical in the machine breaks down in the next few months, though :p haha).

Even if the science behind transformers is pretty basic, it's still a good idea to follow Barb's lead and not buy a cheapie. Good call *thumbs_up* !

I have never seen a machine without dual voltage 115/220 . A friend told me that some of the very old machines were single voltage.
I just want to go back to sleep!
