Poll: Mask Type Preference

Post by agoroman » Thu Jul 05, 2007 1:26 pm

Hello. I go in for my first fitting tomorrow after getting the CPAP mask at the end of my split study. I've read the collective wisdom on the different types of masks. I tried both a nasal mask and nasal pillow in the study. The nasal pillow hurt my nostrils after a while and the nasal mask was more comfortable, except it made this buzzing noise on exhalation that woke me up occasionally.

One thing I didn't find on the forum was what mask types people prefer. I can tell it's an individual preference thing, but I still wonder what the percentages are so I figured I'd create a poll.

I've been a mouth breather ever since my PSG 2 1/2 years ago, so it's the Ultra Mirage Full Face mask for moi!

I use anything that works, I am now using the Comfort Gel nasal mask, for the last year. I also have used the Comfort Full for a year when I started.

Either works for me, but with the nasal masks, most people mouthbreath, that's bad. If you use a nasal mask you have to control mouthbreathing.

Mouthbreathing causes you to not be treated even if you go through the motions. It's the cause of a lot of treatment failures, only to be overshadowed by DeNile & the Evil DME. Jim
