Mask exhaust noise - revisited

Post by northernlights » Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:48 am

OK Gang:

I have the solution!!! My Comfort Gel was silent last night!
I took the pointy end of a geometry compass, and pushed in into the slot where the exhaust comes out, in a few spots. This opened up the slot just enough that there was absolutely NO NOISE when I exhaled. It also seemed to eliminate the inhale music as well.
If thats not a quick and easy solution, I don't know what it.
FYI.

Have a great weekend -

Steve.

This is an amazing customization. I would have never thought of doing that to my Comfort Gel. Did you vote on the customization poll? It would be great if you posted on there as well. Very inventive!

I'm off to buy a compass.

Be aware that if you open up the hole and change the volume of airflow, you may be altering the co2 washout capability of the mask.

The hole is designed to match and support a particular 'deadspace' in the mask & altering it may cause problems.

One cause of noise is when you clean the mask & water gets in the hole, even a small film of water in the hole can create a whistling noise.
