DME and appointment..I am proud to announce

Post by Christy223 » Thu Jun 28, 2007 12:56 pm

I am proud to anounce that all is well. Hubby will be be getting the Respironics M Series Pro, heated humidifier and get the chance to try several masks at first appt. I have contacted a awesome RT with Lincare and we have clicked, her and I. We have an appt for next Tuesday. Yeah!! Only one more miserable weekend for my darling DH. I am so happy SO FAR with the new DME. Lisa the RT was so full of knowledge and said that she wished all of her patients would be so willing to "fill up" on information about SA and not just trust the DME's completely. She said that knowledge is valuable. I owe this to CPAPtalk and all the nice folks that I have met here.

I look forward to a long and lasting friendship will all my new friends here at CPAPtalk.

That's great news! i have been thinking about you guys all day, wondering how that was going.

Just thinking, since you are on xPAP already maybe you guys could alternate sleeping all this weekend so you could both be on it.

Dawn

Dawn - I know I have confused everyone because I have been the one on the forum asking all the questions, using "I" sometimes when I talk, but I don't have sleep apnea only hubby does. He is newly diagnosed. I only wish I could share "my" machine with him! hehe

Linda - Our appt is 10am with Lisa next Tuesday. I am so excited.

Good job Christy! I'm so glad you found a DME you like, and hopefully she will be everything you need to get your husband off to a good start with his cpap. I'm sure next Tuesday seems like forever, but it's nothing compared to his (and your) struggles over the last few years.

Good luck on Tuesday.

Bonnie

Two more sleeps!!!! I can't wait until Tuesday at 10am!!! DH is so in a fog today. I feel so sorry for him. Mad at myself when I remember the days when I used to be pissed when he would "ruin" our weekends by always being tired and fatigued!!

At least you have realilzd what is wrong christy and have stopped being so angry at him for what he cant control. The person in my life that was most cruel and angry at my "lazyness" all the time is still a horrible, mean, unsupportive person. I still have to hear the put downs every day. When I try to tell them it is a medical problem I just get an eye roll and an "oh my god".

I hope tuesday comes fast for you......maybe he will have an energized 4th of july the following morning!

Jennmary,

It breaks my heart to hear you say that you don't have support from the one that should be the most supportive. I have diligently been trying to find the reason for all of DH's problems over the years. I have probably been more proactive than even he has about his illnesses.

Take care and I hope this forum gives you some comfort and support!

Christy

I get the same thing from my dad. Never mind that he has apnea too and refuses to get a mask.

Tried to talk to him about it today. He told me to go outside and talk to a rock.

Oh my! It saddens me that some of your families are SO unsupportive!! No doubt that most spouses/parents/children get frustrated with us OSA patients, especially before we've been diagnosed and have CPAP therapy helping...that's normal I think. But to be so mean it's totally uncalled for! Christy, it sounds like you're a loving wife and your husband is lucky to have you. Don't beat yourself up for being frustrated in the past!

I have to add one to this unsupportive list.

I am currently going through a long divorce. I believe the apnea and snoring were major, major contributors.

On top of that when I finally did get treatment (he didn't do anything but complain while I was undiagnosed, not looking for an answer like Christy) I was so excited that I wouldn't be bothering him any anymore with my snoring, but he had already mentally checked out of the marriage and file for divorce.

He couldn't even come to terms that it was a medical problem that I couldn't help it. In his mind I was stubborn and uncaring for not finding the solution sooner so he could sleep.

Christy, you husband is a lucky man. Don't beat yourself up, you are on his side now once you realized it.
