Strap guard product suggestions

Post by geoDoug » Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:35 am

I'm looking for product suggestions. I have a strong need for faceguard straps. (If you care or it matters, it's not because of skin irritation. It's because I had brain surgery, and one of the top straps rubs against where there's a bump from a screw under the skin. The result is that if I use the mask all night, I wake up with severe pain right there--not exactly conducive to compliance.)

There are of course a lot out there. At the top of the cpap.com miscellaneous products page alone the top three items are straps ranging in prices. I want to know if anybody out there has experience with a brand they rave about. Anybody want to point me to a website for a strap they absolutely love? I don't want to waste a bunch of money playing "strap guard roulette."

Doug.

I would try padacheek dot com. Karen has standard pads there, and will customize anything you need.

Absolutely get the padacheeks. Karen is a forum member and all you have to do is PM padacheek. She will do what ever it takes to help make this more comfortable. If you need something special just let her know and given a day or two to think about it she always seems to come up with a great idea. She is always willing to work with you to get you what you need.
The padacheeks are micro fleece and you can get cotton or silk covered PACs too. I use a zippered laundry bag for mine and just throw them in the washer. I hang mine to dry but you could just throw the zipper bag into the dryer too. I don't like the covers with velcro. They stick to hair and seem rough on my face. I've been using the padacheeks since starting xpap almost a year ago and wouldn't even consider using a mask with out them.
