MIRAGE SWIFT 2 MASK IS AMAZING

Post by sugarsowner » Sat Jun 23, 2007 6:21 pm

I have tried 10 different masks over the last few years and I haven't found one that lets me sleep thru the night undisturbed until the Mirage Swift 2
came out. I just received it 5 days ago, before this I suffered with depression, constantly tired and irritable and feeling grouchy about life in general.

Then I decided to try the Mirage Swift II mask and although the engineering differences are subtle, they have made all the difference in the world.!

There are many holes at the base of the nose clip, and it allows me to exhale
quietly, and effortlessly.

I don't toss and turn now as I once did and I am able to dream for longer periods of time. I have a new lease on life and the depression has dramatically
lessened. I am happier, more at ease and have a sense of well being I did not have before last Tuesday.

If you are frustrated with CPAP therapy, suffer from depression or constant anger, TRY THIS MASK. It made a huge difference in my outlook and it may do the same for you

Have you tried Mirage Swift original mask? If yes, can you please describe the difference?
Thanks.

The problem I seem to have with the original swift is not being loud or anthing like that but the inabiltiy to sleep on my side or stomach without losing the seal and I have to repositiion the mask afterward. How does the new mask when it comes to these issues?

I have the swift II, and a newbie to this CPAP stuff. Just been using it since thursday. I have been able to sleep over 8 hours, and been very happy with the mask. I was originally fitted with full face, and had such a bad claustrophobic feeling with it, my RT had me try this swift II. It was 1000% better for me. NO feelings of being suffocated, and very comfortable. If this mask would not have been an option, I doubt I would have been able to overcome that feeling of suffocation. I don't think I would have stuck with CPAP for very long, and I know I wouldn't have been able to sleep with a FF mask for 8 hours. In just 3 days, I feel so much better, so much more energy. I look forward to going to bed now, in a bed too! The last several months I have had to use a recliner to sleep otherwise I would wake up choking if I used the bed. I am having to get comfortable with the bed again, but I am happy to do it. I highly recommend the swift II mask for anyone that is claustrophobic or gets that suffocating feeling with other masks.

Can you switch sides? From the picture it looks like you would have to stay on the one side. thanks.

Switching sides is very easy. No problem with mask coming off or losing seal. The hose on the mask can be switched to either side, so I have mine on the side that the CPAP machine is placed on, and if I roll over on my other side, I have just been taking up the hose slack and pulling it with me as I roll. So far so good.

You can switch sides

Post by Guest » Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:51 pm

You can switch sides easily. I am a side sleeper and I use the velcro tab on the headgear to fix the side tube to the top of the headgear. It allows me to easily shift from lett to right and back if necessary. The exhaust holes allow more natural exhaling, and it is easy to clean and light weight.

The original Swift mask with side air vent holes in the nasal pillows, bothered me if it wasn't angled just right. it sounded at times like I was doing a darth vader impression.

The Swift 2 is quiet, peaceful and I am getting the best nights sleep I have ever experienced.

cpap.com sells a Swift -> Swift II kit for $89. Seems a bit pricey, but it is a savings from the $154 that the complete Swift II goes for.

I'm new to this as well and the Mirage II is the only mask I've used but I adjusted to it quickly and now can turn from side to side most of the time. 2 times in a month and early on I've found the whole thing off my face.

I would call your DME and tell them you are having problems with the mask you are using now. It doesn't hurt to ask. Maybe they will bend a little and give you a new mask and headgear.

I've tried the Bravo and hated it. I don't have the Swift II yet, but I have the original and pretty much love it.
