I have had my CPAP for many years (over 8000 hours on the unit). I use it every day, change my mask every 4 to 6 months, change my filters etc. The CPAP is set to a fixed value and does not auto-adjust. Everything seems to be working for me.
question:
I have never been back to the Dr. since I received my sleep study and equipment. I keep thinking I should make a follow-up appointment. Any specific reason why I should visit my sleep Dr.?
Is follow-up needed?
As long as you are sleeping well and feeling rested on waking I don't see any need to pay for an office call to see you're sleep doctor. If you start feeling tired again, not feeling rested; don't waste time, call and make an appointment! JMO for what it is worth.

Any need for follow-up
Well, if you are feeling real good and not sleepy during the daytime, I wouldn't worry too much about follow-up. Pressure needs can change due to weight, fluid retention, medications, etc., so if you have any symptoms causing concern, follow-up could be indicated. A trial period on an auto pap to assess your pressure needs could put your mind at ease.
I think I'd be more concerned that the pressure your machine is putting out is the same as your setting. My doctor asked me to bring mine in to be checked after a little over a year. But if that were a problem, seems you'd be feeling bad. Some say "If it ain't broke don't fix it." I say follow your gut.
