Ambien CR sleeping pills cause memory problems?

I have been taking Ambien CR 12 mg sleeping pills for about 6 months. I told my sleep doctor today that I was starting to have short term memory problems. She told me to stop taking the pills and that she has a number of other patients that take Ambien that have the same loss of memory experience.
I stopped taking the meds tonight. has any one had the same experience with Ambien? Or heard of the problem? Thanks. Mr Frog

I am taking Ambien CR 81 mg. and am having memory problems too.

However, I have also read that sleep apnea can cause memory problems. I have been having problems with large leaks from nasal interfaces and the full face masks make my nose sore.

I take regular ambien 10mg (not CR) on the weekends sometime, and have never had any memory loss.

Also please be aware that piullls like ambien can cause sleep walking/eating without hte person being aware- some patients using hte drug were getting up during night and eating some very wierd items like dirt, leaves, paper etc- it's a condition for which I can't remember the name, but a nurse told me that it happens to pregnant women sometimes as well in whiuch they sleep eat and don't remember a thing- some people even cook complete meals and don't remember it-
