CPAP use in tv shows

Post by HeatherN » Wed Jun 13, 2007 2:09 pm

My kids like to watch a tv show on the disney channel called "Drake and Josh". I happened to catch a scene this afternoon, where the two main characters(teenagers) were in a bedroom where an older male relative was asleep with a CPAP on! They wanted to wake him up so they ended up unplugging the machine, and then he was making all kinds of weird noises. One picked up a baseball bat like he was going to wack the machine and the other kid stopped him. Not exactly great education about sleep apnea but it was the first time I have ever seen CPAP use on TV that was not an educational show about apnea.Have you ever seen any other shows that reference sleep apnea at all? Found it kind of interesting.

Oceanpearl, I'll try to get my wife to write one into one of her books but I somehow doubt it'll fly. Just because HER hero wears one doesn't mean there'll be many who will lay down money to read and fantasize about a fictional one.

My wife writes Romance Novels. Is there such a thing as a sexy CPAP Interface?

I don't know, somehow I'm just not seeing the "Ooh, baby, that is one hot Breeze" thing.

The Sopranos

Saw a CPAP in use on a Sopranos I think it was season two. Junior had it prescribed while he was in home confinement.

I love Big Brother and watch it every summer! (Totally mindless TV entertainment!) I must have missed someone using CPAP - of course I wasn't looking for it either!
There have been several men on their who snore like crazy - George, from season 1, for example! Talk about freight train!

James -- you're too funny. Guess I chose a bad day to give up drinking and smoking too.....

I think the big brother was 2 or 3 with the guy w/CPAP. All the other guests would make fun of him or complain that they couldn't sleep in the same room...

TWolf, tell your wife I'll buy her book that features a cpap on EITHER SEX.

Just found out my 66 year old dad is currently getting more than me... And yes, we are both single!

LOL,
B.

Haha. This is what I am worried about. I am 26 and horribly single. You and your dad are likely getting more than I am. lol
Now I am even more nervous about dating. Cant wait till the next time I go on a romantic getaway.....and someone can see me with the full face mask and the bandaids that keep the ugly zits the mask has caused(the ones I hide with make up during the day). Then the next morning we can have breakfast with him staring at my fresh mask marks. lol LMAO.
I am actually really self conscious about this.

Jenmary,

The important thing is that you would wake up in the morning and be able to have breakfast. I mean this in the kindest way possible even though it may sound blunt. If you skipped CPAP the night of the romantic getaway and died in your sleep -- well, that would sure put a damper on things!

I have been married for almost 18 years. Believe me, if my wife had OSA, I would much rather she wear the gear to bed than risk the consequences.

Kind regards,

Dave

Yeah, I would never skip a night of CPAP for a guy. Plus if it comes between the CPAP or the snoring loud enough to wake the dead I am not sure which is less sexy. lol
But it does out a new spin on relationships for me.
