Gross and Weird

Post by AmoRanas » Mon May 28, 2007 3:50 pm

Hello there,

I've been on CPAP for a couple of months now and have never gone to sleep without it. I love my CPAP. It has sincerely changed my life. The headaches are gone, I don't sleep all day. I actually do things since the struggle to get out of bed and make it through the day is gone.

Here's the thing that I'm having some trouble with and perhaps someone may know what's going on. I have had to move my humidifier up to 4 or 5 when 1 or 2 was sufficient in the beginning. Probably due to weather dryness, but the last two weeks I have woken up with my mouth completely dried out quite a few times, hence upping the humidity. When I wake up I think, do I hear/feel a leak in the mask? But I don't.

Then two days ago I woke up and spit out yucky brown stuff out of my mouth. It was also kind of dry. Now I do brush my teeth a couple of times a day and a couple of times a week I'll use alcohol free mouthwash. Last night I rinsed with peroxide to make sure what ever it was was killed off.

Still feel dried out so I'm going to up the humidity again. This didn't happen when I got started so I am a wee bit concerned about it. Don't want mouth rot.

Thanks for any input.

Are you sure you're not opening your mouth?

If you are using a Full face mask are you using Distilled water in your humidifier?

I know I open my mouth, that's why I have a Full Face mask. Yes I am using distilled water.

sounds like a sinus infection to me. But I could be wrong. You sure it wasn't rust colored instead of brown?

If it were me, I'd talk to the doctor about it.
