Individual Insurance post Apnea diagnosis

Post by MrPaul » Mon May 28, 2007 3:00 pm

Hi All,

What do folks here do for individual insurance after getting a diagnosis of sleep apnea?

Right now I and the rest of my family are on a really high HSA plan (I think 7.5k deductible/year) and our premiums are still really high. Not to mention they exclude anything sleep apnea related. The last time I tried to switch I was pretty much denied by every insurer I talked to.

Personally if I had known this I probably would've gotten a sleep study/machine/etc... all on my own without using my social/name/insurance plan. Its really annoying since I'm 100% compliant (over 12k hours on my last machine and so used to it I can't even take a nap without it) and yet I get penalized while folks who have apnea and are never diagnosed can get insurance at will.

Repinging this up to the top of the list, since I'm really curious about it.
