Not sleeping...again

Post by OldHippie » Thu May 24, 2007 7:50 am

After almost 4 months of sleeping better than I had in years, I am now back to waking up every 1-2 hours all night. My husband says I do NOT snore and I use my CPAP/mask religiously!! When I wake up, I have a full bladder all the time. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now. I am on antibiotics for a UTI and will be on a maintainance dosage for a long time.

My pressure is set at 10 but I was wondering if I should "raise it" to 11. I hate playing around with anything a doctor prescribes however. I am uncertain what to do. The sleep tests were done for free because we didn't have the money for them and the insurance is horrible.

I am grumpy and getting depressed from never sleeping through the night.

TIA,
Louise

I've noticed that I too recently have sort of "hit the wall". I immediately took to this cpap thing, slept great and had little to no adjustment period at all. In the past two or three weeks, I've been waking up twice a night, when before only once a night. I guess that's still not bad, but I'm wondering, what happened to cause me to awaken more. It still beats every two hours like I was before cpap and waking every time with a full bladder and acid reflux like crazy. I'm at least not seeing that sort of thing.

Old Hippie-

Do you have other medical problems that you take meds for? After using a CPAP for about a year, I had to have my meds evaluated because I was not sleeping or feeling as well as I did. I was able to stop taking two of my meds. Just a thought........

Water?

I stop drinking water around 3-4 hours before going to bed to help reduce the need to get up so many times in the night. Just a thought : )

UTI can cause you to wake up.

Get a half gallon of unsweetened Ocean Spray Cranberry juice and drink it over ice, your UTI will go away faster than any prescription.

You can put some Equal or Splenda if you cannot tolerate it unsweetened.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
