Well when I bought this Resmed Quattro mask, I didn't realize at the time I was beta testing it. But I have read here it is not supposed to be released until May 31? LOL, that figures!
But I do believe the one I got has a defect with the anti-asphyxia valve.
I've been trying to use it every night or at least trying to make an effort to do so, since I got mine last week, but for some reason I'd wake up an hour or two later with it "hissing" at me and the machine revving up high to compensate for it.
I've used it with two different autopaps now (my 420e and my M series auto) and both machines respond in a similar fashion.
The "hiss" is annoying at best, last night I made a mad dash down to Albertsons to purchase a pair of ear plugs. So I took a shower and shaved, my usual routine, rolled the foam ear plugs in my finger stuck them in my ears, put on the Quattro and went to sleep. I woke up this morning, removed the ear plugs and there it was, the loud "hiss" and the noise of the machine over-revving to compensate. I'm feeling around to figure out where it is coming from, I'm feeling around the edge of the cushion, nothing! I feel in front where the tiny exhaust holes are, doesn't feel any different, I can feel a strong stream of air exiting the exhaust holes, well that is normal I guess, then I feel around the elbow where the flapper valve is, whola! there it is, it is coming from the flapper valve holes.
mmm....with cpap pressure that valve should NOT be leaking and air escaping them holes.
I'll put in a call to Resmed today and see what's up with this, but if they cannot offer me any suggestions, this mask is going back in the box and back to where I purchased it from. This "hiss" is LOUD, there is no way in hell this mask is 50% quieter than the UMFF, I know the UMFF and this ain't no UMFF that is for sure. Buyer beware.
