Reason for higher AHI last night?

Post by WearyOne » Fri May 18, 2007 8:18 am

I've been having AHI's under 1 for a couple of months. Last night it was 4.1. Leak rate was what I usually get for my Hybrid--42, which is less than the vent rate. I've had higher leak rates that didn't affect my AHI. The only thing I noticed was that every time I woke up, my mouth was hanging waaaay open, and I think I was on my back at these times, too, but that I can't be sure of. My mouth is covered with the Hybrid, but I was wondering if that in some way could have made the AHI go up.

Can't post any software data because the place I ordered the card reader from, it never arrived and they're sending another one. (Lost in the mail, I guess?)

Any ideas?

Pam

If it's just one night, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone has a bad night every once in a while. If it continues you'll need to tweak. For now I would do nothing and just wait and see.

From my limited personal experience, I would tend to relate to being on your back more. My AHI rockets up when I am on my back.

I find that going to sleep more tired seems to cause worse ersults, higher pressuer and higher AHI. I also notice that on days when I have been to the gym and had an intense workout I need more pressure. Better leak rates seem to reduce AHI, which is not surprising.
Good luck, your rate was still not very terrible. But I think that with your mouth open the machine cannot measure apneas as accurately.
