Hello,
I just started my cpap therapy about 3 weeks ago. This was a machine that I purchased off the net and setup myself based on the pressure setting that the Doctor wrote for the prescription. My machine is a remstar plus with C-Flex. I like the machine and feel that it is working. The first week or so I felt like a new person. Now I am going back to feeling sleepy during the day. I wear the mask all night. I don't feel that I have any leakage.
I do find myself waking up gasping for air though as though my breathing is still stopping? I don't know enough about the apnea to know what is causing this or how to correct it. I am using a nasal pillow mask with the straps that fit over my head. So far that is the best mask that has worked. I'm just puzzled as to why I'm waking up gasping for air...?
My pressure setting is 11.5 by the Doctor. I have it set to 12 since the machine I have doesn't do half digits.

stop breathing...?
Using a nasal mask you may be mouthbreathing, if so you could be losing your treatment out of your mouth. Taping or a FF Mask can fix that.
You machine gets no useful data, so you are flying by the seat of your nose. Check search for mouthbreathing and taping. Jim

In addition to what Jim said, other factors that may affect your treatment also include medications, libations, and eating too late in the evening.
