I bought this book because as a former sleep apnea sufferer, I have an interest in the subject, because it is not very long so it should not be very difficult to get through, and because I wouldn't regret having spent only 10 bucks if the book disappointed me. But the book didn't disappoint me - far from it. It substantiated what I had noted in my own experience, namely that gout attacks can be caused by sleep apnea. There is other stuff there too which struck a responsive chord in me.
What did you do, have a miracle or something? This disease can't be cured.painfree wrote:I bought this book because as a former sleep apnea sufferer, I have an interest in the subject, because it is not very long so it should not be very difficult to get through, and because I wouldn't regret having spent only 10 bucks if the book disappointed me. In my best cynical tone:
New book appears on Amazon.
New poster appears on CPAPTalk.
New poster suggests new book.
Odd.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
FYI
Our poster "painfree" is Burton Abrams......doing a little self-promotion.
He didn't "come across the book" he wrote/published it. (according to his own words)
Burton,
I think we'd all appreciate a little more honesty from the people who post here.....it'll give you a little more credibility......but on the other hand, any additional attention that can be brought to the attention of the general public about this medical condition can be appreciated.

Your comment that sleep apnea affects 5% of the adult population in the US is true for severity lavels that are at least considered to be moderate. A paper titled Epidemiology of Sleep Apnea in a 2002 issue of the American Journal of Critical Care Medicine reports that 20% of the US adult population has sleep apnea at severity levels that are considered to be mild, or stronger. Furthermore, even mild sleep apnea is associated with significant morbidity. These data are cause for alarm, which is why I published the book The Perils of Sleep Apnea--An Undiagnosed Epidemic.

Heart disease has been reported for several years in medical journals to be strongly associated with long-term sleep apnea, even though most cardiologists have not yet caught up with that information. And as I have written elsewhere on this website, many attacks of gout are a direct result of sleep apnea the previous night. Both conditions are discussed in my new book The Perils of Sleep Apnea - An Undiagnosed Epidemic.
