Two surgeries:Laser reduction of uvula and deviated septum

Post by avgeo » Mon Apr 23, 2007 7:22 pm

Both of these were horrific. Very painful swallowing for a month with the uvula. The deviated septum was worse. Pulling the plugs was really nasty. I now have 24/7 mucous secretions. Enough to cause burning in esophagus and stomach irritation. Anti-histamines useless. Anyone had this problem? Cat scan in about a week may show something I hope.

wow, avgeo

that sounds brutal...i had the septoplasty done 3 weeks ago, but once the stents were out--which i agree with you, was nasty--i've had no congestion or extra mucus secretion, so i can't help you there...my biggest complaint right now is the stitches in my nose that aren't dissolving and are making me insane...oh,and that my ENT wants me wait yet another week (4 in total) before getting back on cpap..i guess that's worse than the stitches...

i have a giant uvula myself, but after reading how horrible the surgery is on here i don't think i'd go there...i'm sorry to hear that you're having so much pain from that, but hopefully it will help in long run

what did your ENT say about the excess mucus? i know there was someone else on these boards who had bad congestion for weeks after the stents were pulled, but i don't think it was to the severe degree that you're describing

wish i could help ; please update after your scan
