Well, after reading several threads in this forum and seeing 3 weeks of data downloaded from my card at the doctor's office (I have the report) I am confused as to exactly how much data is held by the Encore Data card.
I have read only 5 days info then 7 sessions.. BUT as I say when I went to the doctor on the end of 3 weeks on cpap they had me bring the card so they could download the data.
What I see in the report is info dating back to 3/27/07 the first day on CPAP for me. Yet as I say I also read they can only hold 5 or 7 days info.
Is it possible that the 3 weeks data was just compliance data not detail data? If so how much or ow many days of details can the card hold?
Also, when you download does it accumulate for the patient and add to the older data already downloaded??
thanks for any info I can get there..

hi ddpelp,
Along as the smart card is not erased, the data will be accumulated. Eventually the older data will off. How long that will take, I do not know. The longest I have left it without erasing is 25 days.
The things you will not see anymore is the Detailed seven sessions.
Even if you are not erasing the data, but still downloading them on your computer, the SLQ server will save the data.
What I found is that the info that was not downloaded as Detailed stuff, does not show up on the Encore Pro Analyser.
Not even hours, hyponeas apneas etc, yet they appear on the long term trend.

I can do this, I will do this.

machine SmartCard can hold up to 3-sessions per day, 7 day detailed data, 6 months usage compliance.
So it does 7-day detailed, then loses 2 of them, so you get 5-day detailed if you are lucky.
Yeah I know, FTC should file a complaint against Respironics for making false claims, if it loses 2 of the 7-day detailed it only does 5-day detailed.

The only thing the doctor or DME or insurance company is interested in is compliance (hours of use.) As long as you're using the machine at least 4 hours a night, 5 days a week, that's considered being "compliant." I know, I know, that would not be anywhere near enough to be getting "real" treatment. But at least setting the number of hours and number of days that low for qualifying as "compliant" would let a person who is struggling at the beginning to keep the machine and keep working on using it more consistently.ddpelp wrote:I have read only 5 days info then 7 sessions.. The doctor, DME, and insurance company are not a bit interested in the Daily Details information from the card....those most recent sessions of detailed data. At most, the only thing a doctor or DME would look at beyond just "hours of use" is the 90th or 95th percentile pressure presented in a Summary or Trend report (again, not the detailed data) if the machine is an autopap the doctor has put the user on for an auto-titrating trial of a week to a month.
With few exceptions, they (the health care professionals) aren't interested at all in seeing any of the detailed information that begins on page 4 in the Encore Pro detailed reports.
A glance at hours of use and sometimes at the 90th (95th) percentile pressure. That's the extent of their interest in cpap/autopap/anypap treatment. That's what they call downloading "data."

RG, I know what you mean about most doctors. My PCP doc acts like it is a race to get in and out but I have to say the sleep doctor (which was my wife's PCP before she (the doctor) went 100% sleep stuff) is excellent.
When I went for the 3 weeks report. She had it all printed out had me a copy to take home and then went thru her copy and went thru the details for the last 5 days pressures etc.. noted how the auto CPAP machine did its job and noting the mins in each prssure also noted she wanted me to change masks as she thought my leak rate was too high.. Soo there are some good ones which she is.. My wife was upset when she stopped her private practive to go into sleep medicine but then my PCP wanted me to go have a sleep study done and recomended her old doctor so worked out great. Except when she (wife) went with me when I got the results of first sleep sudy it was 10 mins before they got to talking to me as the two of them caught up on old times <g>
anyway, added note when I went for my sleep study at the sleep lab at 9:30 PM the tech mention she (my sleep doctor) had just left been there since 7 AM that morning. So guess he likes what she is doing .. bet after having a full load with private practive she might feel on vacation with the sleep lab stuff.. I teased her about hearing her late hours and she said "someone has to review the reports"
